The original plan was set in place to get on the
Adrenaline Adventures shuttle and do the whole 7 Summits and that some folks would branch out, do the Old Glory hike a bike and then descend back down to Plewman and then over to Oasis. Our buddies Pat Williams and Joe made the short trek from Nelson to be part of the crew for today's journey. Locals, Tyler, Ryan and Isaac joined in too to provide additional local trail knowledge. Thanks guys!

Pic by Ty, even the hikers liked watching us
At the top of the Plewman connector is where we realized that there was no way we'd be able to do the whole 7 Summits with our crew as we were 3 hours in and only one third done (taking pics takes time). Instead everyone decided that a quick hike a bike up Old Glory was in order and then we'd all do Plewman to the highway, climb up the highway a few kms and then into Upper/Lower Oasis. This proved to be the most amazing ride of the trip and will be what most of the crew will talk about all year, that is until we top it next season.

Thanks go out to Tyler from
Revolution Cycles, Isaac and Ryan from the The Kootenay Columbia Trail Society. (all 3 were great locals to have guiding us around), Blaine from
Adrenaline Adventures and his huge van set up made logistics so simple - load up, unload, ride, reload, ahh! Maybe next year, we'll hit up the whole Seven Summits, but either way today was all time sick!

Happy crew
Looking back at our trip, it truly was amazing that 12 plus riders could ride for 4 days on the terrain that we did and not suffer one major mechanical, besides flat tires (and we had our fair share of those). To all of us, it says that the technology has gotten to where it needs to be in order for us to truly enjoy the All Mountain ride. Mid travel bikes rule! Another technological thing to note was that Adjustable Seat Posts were on more than half the bikes on this trip, with Crankbros. leading the charge for popularity. Ah I do love bikes and the bits that make them extra fun! Below are some hard details that Smoke put together based on his GPS readings from the 4 days - yep Hurtin' for Vert!
Total Distance Ridden = 121 km
Total Elevation Gained by Bike = 10 000'
Total Elevation Lost by Bike = 27 600'
Total Hours Slept = not enough
Total Pilsners Drunk = way too many (Reg says your body will adjust to it, just need to consume more of it, more often, hmm not too sure)
Total Richie Schley Putdowns for not Coming out = nowhere near enough
