hi i think its great for the event.but i am disappointed to. this contest will be won by someone in bc or ab. i leave in sask and we cant even think of rideing yet. and i have been looking for support from some one in the sport .i am 42 years old coming off three years of battleing a chronic illness that knock me off my bike i just know back rideing. i want to race in the western open to show everyone on here that we do freeride and downhill here in Sask. and i tried of every where i look there is the sport promoteing young guns. we old boys can ride just as hard. i do all my own work on my bikes and drive to my rideing spots.all on less then 8oo dollars a month. ihave my own little shop .

Congratulations you won! Did we mention airfare is NOT included. So if you live in Europe you'll have to sell a kidney.
  • + 6
Luckily you don't live in Europe. Don't knock something that is trying to make something great happen for 2 lucky people with a little initiative.
  • + 1
Thought it was funny that three companies cant come up with airfare for two people.
  • + 4
This is a race on a provincial level - when's the last time your local race series put this type of effort forth. Don't judge until you can do better.
  • + 2
this race is just a bc/alberta race.. why would anyone else want to go? It isn't something like Cworx or even a national level event. Kovarik is likely holding race training some other weekend at a location much closer to you.

I live in massachusetts. The biggest event around here is Claymore Challenge. And that's a slope comp! Unless I want to drive 5 hours for UCI DH in windham ny.

It sucks to have a contest where the winner still has a large out-of-pocket expense. It oughta be all inclusive or nothing.
  • + 4
This is still a huge value to someone and the out of pocket will be more than worth the memories and skills gained.
  • + 1
Totally worth it. It's a contest aimed for us western canadians. They had a smaller version of the contest last year that jsut covered some swag and the race clinic. I won it... but then I destroyed my knee and gave it up to someone else. Frown I was gonna try and rewin this year, but no video camera.. :/
