CLEVELAND, OHIO- Seventeen year old JD Swanguen comes out of the gate charging taking the overall win at Ray’s 3 Ride Pro Invitational in Cleveland Ohio over a solid contingent of heavy hitters.
Just 2 weeks after signing a two year deal with Cove Bikes JD has landed on top of his first podium of the year. Over the last few years JD has gained a reputation as one of the most all round young riders in the US, and this was transparent this weekend when he rode his Cove Foreplay to the win at Ray’s. The Ray’s 3 Ride Pro Invitational consists of 4 individual events and crowns an overall champion at the end of the weekend.

“JD’s result shows just how great of an all round rider he is, and this is an unreal start to year for JD.”- Gabe Fox, Cove Bikes Marketing Manager
JD’s highlight of the event was his first place finish in the pump track event ahead of Mountain Bike legend Brian Lopes. Other results included a 3rd place finish in the Moen Time Trial event and a 2nd place finish in the Subaru street event. All of these solid results placed him first overall at the end of the weekend.
“His lines were super smooth, and he chose creative and brash lines. In the skate park comp, he picked a line that nobody has ever ridden - he linked two jumps that put him over the rafters, and oh yea, he smashed out an 8' fluorescent bulb for flair and brought the whole show to a halt.”- Eric Schutt, SRAM P/R Manager
From the top spot on the podium this early in the season JD’s season is looking bright. Next up for JD are some local California events in preparation for the upcoming Norba and World Cup events throughout North America.
“Cove and SRAM really stepped up and rushed a bike to me with just enough time to get ready for Ray’s. After coming to Ray’s last year I really wanted to win this year, I am stoked to start the year with a win.”- JD Swanguen

that pic makes him look like the biggest tool ever
say what you will, but to me it makes him look like the guy with the cash in his hand that wooped a lot of other riders and most like you and I who are sitting here reading about it.
dude beat the man Lopes? Then you gotta forgive those tight pants and how about that sweet SD hat!Good for a company like Cove gettin the next Cedric
It's good to see the Cove picked up some young talent to replace Boyko. It will be an interesting 2 years watching this kid.
he's all emo, but he's quick as fook. He also had a coupla cute groupies.
Odly enough, he was the only prize winner NOT to stare at the hot sram-girls mamalian protuberances.
He sure looks like a guy we'll keep hearing about, though.

He's not tool!
Your a goon, stop talking crap about him. He'll kill you in all disciplines. So what if he's fashion conscious, that's how he gets the girls and he's for sure not emo. I would know I live with him.
He killed it and will for the rest of the season.

He is still a CHEATER! I don't care how good the Kid is... his integrity (in my book) went out the window when he cheated at the Brianhead Norba race.
the kid shreds like no other, so everyone talkin shit, id like to see you hop on ur hoopty ass ride and try to get as nasty as this boy right here. theres no way you and ur bow-legged ass style could ever keep up with him or boost as high as him. so all you need to do is shut up and accept the future of mountain biking as it comes...EMO!!! i dont think so. i would know, i sometimes live with him.
