The skies have cleared and the trail crew is super busy buffing and building bike trails. Kicking Horse is opening this weekend with 2 for 1 biking on Friday, June 29th. There is still snow in the Alpine, but most lower mountain trails will be open.

The crew is working on the following:

•Road Runner: Super buff right now, new section will be done within the month and will probably have some table-tops

•Dirt Jump line: two lines, one advanced and one beginner/intermediate to make it progressive. Currently being shaped and the smaller line ready by the end of the weekend.

•Easy Rider: a few drainage ditches and some smoothing out. Buff!

•Kranky Pants: Done and Buff!

•Base area: Drop features have been put back (Bert & Ernie); some new features for animation (step-up box, wood drop, log wall-ride on Buffalo Jump. Buff!

•Drop park: A series of drops starting out at 1 foot and topping out at about 8 feet. A progressive learning area. Will be ready for opening. Smaller line will be a one and a half footer and a two and a half footer. The bigger line will be two four footers with one being set back to gap.

•Pioneer: new wood and dirt features. Dirt features at the bottom (Claim Jumper) are; pre-jump to road gap to big left hand berm to right berm gap to left berm to right berm to left to table to a bunch of buff big berms

•Rock ‘n’ Roll. Super Buff and changed a bit for better flow

•Stump Jumper/Chain Reaction. A few new features built; a drop to dirt tranny and a little wedge gap

•Super Berm: Ready for opening but will go through a major re-work through season. Upper Super Berm has been totally reworked. Super buff with some enhanced table tops.

•Blaster: destroyed last year (summer slope grooming); needs to be rebuilt
-Big berms, table tops, wood features. Has been rebuilt. Needs raking. Might be done by the end of the weekend.

•Showdown: Almost finished
-Berms, table-tops, drops, wood features. It is the next thing in line for the machine to get on. Open in two weeks

I think they are too busy building the new stuff to be snapping pics! Hopefully more will come about as the weekend unfolds.
