Kokanee Crankworx 2011 - Photo Recap Part 1

 Day 1 - The Fat Tire Criterium |

| Megan Rose leads Katherine Short about halfway through the Fat Tire Crit. |

| Katherine Short ended up winning the event... |

| Kevin Calhoun leads the men's race part way through. The lead group consisted of 4 riders for most of the race, Calhoun, Brian Lopes, Matt Ryan, and Charlton Durie. |
 |
| Brian Lopes in the lead. The lead changed a bunch of times as the four distanced themselves from the pack. |
 |
| A few riders pushed it too far and suffered the consequences, both on the dirt section and on the pavement and paving stones... |

| Lopes won the sprint to the finish, 1st Place! |

| Day 2 - Dual Slalom |
 |
| Mitch Ropelato won the Dual Slalom, and had a lot of fun during practice... |
 |
| Kyle Strait got to take a run by himself for 3rd place after Michal Marosi wrecked in the first run. Time for a little fun! |

| Jill Kintner avenged her loss last year with a solid win against Micayla Gatto. You can find our full Dual Slalom post including photos and results here |

| Day 3 - Canadian Open |
 |
| The Canadian Open was as always, all about Heckle Rock. This year even saw a guy from Texas with a chainsaw as well as the usual horns and chants etc. |

| The Hecklers had their chants organized this year. Step 1: spin to select the cheer as everyone watches. Step 2: Get loud! |

| Day 4 - Around and about at Crankworx |

| The only way to start off a Sunday morning--shoot, ANY morning--in Whistler is with a nice 'cuppa' from your favorite coffee joint. We picked Blenz 'cause it's two steps away from the condo. |

| Kokanee, ' cause it's Kokanee Crankworx, eh? SRAM got the Hecklers all primed up before the Open with some great giveaways... |
 |
| SRAM is legendary for their service here at Crankworx, fixing everything from brand new XX gear to old school X7s from 5 years ago. This year they have a sign - once they fill up, you are out of luck, so go stand on the bright red line nice and early! This guy missed the memo... |

| Our roving reporters, Tippie and Ashleigh McIvor, covered most of the events for you this year... |

| Taylor Sage tried to asphyxiate himself painting in the SRAM Pop Up Store, happily he was unsuccessful. |

| The first few days of Crankworx always seem to be a little bit muddy, Diamondback's Kyle Thomas shows off his goggle 'tan' at the end of the day. |

| Mike Redding from Fox Racing was around and about talking to athletes. |

| Teva showed off the new Links shoe, and various athletes including Lenosky and McCaul were around signing posters... |

| Day 5 - Slopestyle Practice |

| Anthony Messere was running two different grips in practice. He said he was trying to decided which ones he liked better. Judging by his runs on Saturday he picked the right ones... |

| Cam McCaul's grips were the same and he gave us the real reason Anthony had different grips. |

| After more than a few days of rain the weather cleared up just in time for the first Slopestyle practice. Paul Basagoitia getting things together... |

| Yannick got his 360's fully inverted and then some... |

| Day 5 - Nightlife |

| Darren Berrecloth hosted an awesome Salmon BBQ before the NWD Premiere |

| Brett Tippie was quiet for the first time in his life at Darren's BBQ! |

| The NWD premiere filled the GLC |
 |
| and then BCDC rocked the place for a few hours... |
 |
| There's something about a NWD Premiere that brings out the party in everyone. Andreu, getting it on... |

| and on and on.... Classic! |

i went for a forestry trip with uni...in april. no bike trails open, no one hiring out bikes...still fun though
