It's a surreal feeling when you get the opportunity to film with a rider of Richie Schley's prestige. Especially since if I had not seen him ride 14 years ago I would likely have never started riding bikes the way I did and thus, certainly never would have picked up a camera. I can remember being 13 years old working on my XC bike with my Dad in his garage and hearing on the local events section of the radio that there was a mountain bike movie playing at a local bike shop that evening. We left the bikes to head down and see what it was all about. That movie was Kranked 1 and after seeing it my riding style changed dramatically. Freeride was born!

Many people feel that the Schley name is synonymous with Whistler and B.C., but Richie has expanded his home turf into the US, moving part time to Laguna Beach California. In true Schley style he has set himself up with a great place to live. He lives across the street from one of his sponsors; Crank Brothers, only a few blocks away from the beach and is surrounded with other legendary riders such as Brian Lopes, and Hans Rey. Having come from B.C. and being constantly surrounded with mountain biking I wasn't sure what to find in an affluent area of the United States. Would we be looked at as side shows, did people even know what mountain biking really was there, and was there any other riders in the area? I was shocked to find that mountain biking was hugely popular there with riders everywhere and even many other pro level riders. While we were shooting, the Athertons were even in town training. Laguna has a strong riding history rooted in the area, and the community was very welcoming and enjoyable to experience.

I had intended on just shooting a riding section, but after experiencing Laguna the lifestyle oozed its way into the filming and I felt it also needed to be represented in the section. Shooting with Schley was great, easy, and having the opportunity to experience his new stomping grounds was an excellent experience. A big thanks to Richie, and IXS for making this section happend and allowing me to film in this amazing place.

It fit the video perfect. Totally in sync with Cali trails. Much better than the norm around here.

if you're referring to the sponsor intro, I like that part. It's the Lone Wolf stamp and a great little edit in its own right. neg prop if you must. I will find the will to carry on.

if it wasn't for those pre rolls and sponsors, we wouldn't get the videos we do for free... Schley is a beast, and thanks to him AND his sponsors (but mainly him), we are forever indebted to the progression of this sport we all love

It was 40 seconds of a 201 second video.
19.9% was the commercial intro.
Way too long!

Are you guys kidding me? It could be A LOT worse (i.e. some completely random ad like youtube or that shit that vitalmtb does). Just be happy you got to see a legend shred and enjoy the vid. If you guys got out there, filmed, and made the video then you could put whatever intro you want.

Youtube is a lot worst, but I wish he could shorten the intro to sub 30 seconds at least.

Oh Laguna!! There are not very many places in the world you can ride 300+ days out of the year with one of the worlds most beautiful coastlines as the background. Life is good!

However, some of the haters probably failed to notice any of the beauty because they were too busy bitching about the Lone Wolf Intro. Normally I'd say "Get a life!" but this time Im going to go with "GO RIDE A BIKE HATERS!!"

Just what I wanted to see as I'm psyhcing myself up to put on mulitple layers and ensuring the battery is charged for a evening ride. And of course, having to wash off 15 pounds of mud off the bike and myself once the ride is over. My ride will be almost completely opposite of the riding in this video. Ahhh well, I'm still riding anyways.....

Too many people have been complaining about Lone Wolf's intro. Would you rather watch this intro or some stupid ads similar to youtube videos? At least it has decent riding, the Giro logos.....those on the other hand could use some touching up haha

My bike is a Rotwild E1 www.rotwild.com. XFusion suspension, yes. Check it out, awesome performance, most people are very blown away when they try my bike. Next Vid will have some Valhalla, but I have checked it a lot and it is very bushy in there, so I don't think it will look as rad as it is. Peace.

I heard it recently.... I think it's Deadmau5 - although I could be wrong. Sometimes Dance works well- the Coastal Crew used 'Barbara Streisand' by Duck Sauce and it made for an epic fun edit.
