As a main sponsor of the iXS Dirt Masters, the suspension manufacturer's presence in Winterberg carried a mix of the typical Italian way of life along with a passion for gravity sport that is part of Marzocchi's tradition. Anyone who visited the Marzocchi booth at the iXS Dirt Masters had the opportunity to meet some of the biggest mountain bike stars face to face for a little chat. Multiple World Champion and World Cup winner Brian Lopes made his way to the iXS Dirt Masters and together with freeride legend Richie Schley and German powerhouse Tibor Simai invited fans to drop by and pick up posters with original autographs.
After all the sportive challenges of the weekend, the "RaMarzocchi hour" offered the perfect refuge for fun and relaxation with a good dose of Italian lifestyle complete with Ramazotti and Pizza. Richie Schley, Brian Lopes, Tibor Simai and Angie Hohenwarter joined in, signed posters and chatted with the fans that had come in flocks to talk to their idols. On his birthday, freeride legend Hans Rey also dropped by for a drink and a chat - the Marzocchi booth was definitely the place to be.
The suspension manufacturer is also proud to congratulate their athletes for the successes they were able to bring home during the weekend. Brian Lopes came second in a race that must felt like one extended downhill run, due to the challenging course of the Enduro race. He had just completed a new UCI XC sprint format race in Offenburg (GER) before making his way to Winterberg.
Fellow Marzocchi rider Tibor Simai spent the weekend teaching a group of kids his skills at the Canyon Riding Lessons. As usual, the flood of applications was enormous and every kid who made it into the group did his best to impress Tibor. Meanwhile, Angie Hohenwarter was able to place third as well in an exciting head to head battle at the Scott 4X Challenge.
Another huge highlight of the weekend was, of course, the iXS Downhill cup that is endorsed by Marzocchi. As the largest downhill race series world wide, more than 500 athletes entered the contest in Winterberg and the cup remains exciting. The American KHS/Marzocchi athlete Logan Bingelli, who many people might remember from last year's Red Bull Rampage, made it over the pond to the Dirt Masters and got third place in Elite Men just behind Markus Klausmann and Andreas Siebert.
Of course, plenty of festival visitors dropped by the Marzocchi booth to catch a glimpse of the MY2012 products. Especially the new 4X and 888 forks were real visitor magnets. Riders who had brought their bike with a Marzocchi fork were also taken care of and could take advantage of the free servicing and plenty of good advice from the Cosmic Sports technicians.
