Man, Hunter does some of the coolest stuff on a bike; whether it's blasting an insanely huge gap to doing a sick solo adventure, he does it all with a chill style that you gotta love.
ok bring on the neg props but at the shot around 5:40 the camera is moving...are you sure there wasnt a cameraman there or anything? i dont think im just seeing things
I agree with you six66, Bear Grylls is legit and has served in special forces. Just becouse its a film crew with him doesnt mean it isnt hard what they do.
Matt is an awesome dude! After I had my baby (and didn't have a bike to ride anymore) he lent me his brand new demo to go out and rip Harper Mtn to my hearts content. Great style, great guy.
*Would love to know what chilled out track is played throughout this video. This has to be one of the most inspirational videos i've seen on here for so long, I love the All mountain way of life!
Such a good edit. Nice to see that side of Matt as he is often portrayed as a big mountain guy, this shows that outdoors man that a lot of us also know him to be.
this edit realy depicts why i love mountain biking you can got out for a few hours (or days if your matt hunter) and just forget all your worries that come with a 21st century life.
Inspite all the crankworks coverage, RB Rampage footage, and WC race videos, this video is a standout. Top 3 in terms of fanning stoke in mountain biking. Captures the essence and soul of mountain biking and what it means to ride. Thanks for posting this.
Pinkbike would post more of this if people did more of it, sadly biking like this is fading out and resort riding is taking over. Not that I'm complaining about resort riding at all!
watching things as amazing as this makes me wish i lived on the west coast, oh and had a nice all mountain bike, am hardtail is a go after i build up my downhill bike
This is exactaly why I need an all mountain bike. Cant really do camp outs haulin my 45 pound bike around. What an awseome vid, Hunters been doing it forever, good on specialized for supporting the guy! that a boy Hunty
Anyone ever done an unsupported overnight ride like this? If so, what's your packing list? I can't figure out how he can fit everything for two days in a normal-sized backpack; it looks like he's riding pretty barebones. It looks like he doesn't bring a sleeping bag though, which should help save space. Here's what I figure you'd need to bring on a ride like this:
tarp for a shelter rope fire starter water filter (he may not have brought this since he dips his mug right in the river, but it would be a good idea) water bottle headlamp rain gear warm jacket
retractable fishing pole w/ lures the jacket is most likely a shell only, the warmth can come from base layer and a simple insulation mid layer. Fitting most of that into a pack really isn't to ridiculous, give it a try.
Filters can be brought along right inside of your bottle now as well.
You can get sleeping bags that pack down ridiculously small nowadays. Especially if they're down filled.
If its a small one though it won't be that warm.
how r canadians and americans so calm around bears! if i was in his shoes i would be like FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKK!!!!!!
but despite my pussyness insane edit matt, another great job by a great guy
Because they're friggin' everywhere. Plus they're dumb as rocks, and up close they look pretty cuddly. Well not Grizzlys, but as long as you keep your cool when you meet them, they tend to leave you be.
this is such a fun trip and a different to do bike filming. now i know what my next video would look like. so i guess story telling and talking to myself would help make a good narration, LOL!
the slide guitar . . . . anyone ?????
Finally some "true" mountain biking, the way it used to be !!
Cheers
