Man, Hunter does some of the coolest stuff on a bike; whether it's blasting an insanely huge gap to doing a sick solo adventure, he does it all with a chill style that you gotta love.
  • 4 3
nice must of been long having to self film. looked like a sick solo trip tho, risky also
  • 70 1

bear grylls is a mega twat. matt hunter is not
  • 3 0
alright, if this doesnt get u stoked to ride, idk what does
  • 11 0
He can't be like Bear Grylls - I didn't see him drinking his own p*ss at any point...
  • 2 0
does ANYONE possibly know what that track is where he is setting up his bivy and cooking his fish?

the slide guitar . . . . anyone ?????
  • 7 2
Matt Hunter is either stoked on life (because he has the best job in the world) or he is high 24/7. he always sounds so stoned.
  • 3 0
Hunter is a boss, but the fact that someone even made a trail all the way out there is pretty nuts too!
  • 2 0
dude is the real deal......2wheels1love Matt
  • 1 0
Dude, why do you think of bear grylls as a twat? Cuz he is what he eats? The mofo is legit. Check out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bear_Grylls
  • 1 0
I agree with you six66, Bear Grylls is legit and has served in special forces. Just becouse its a film crew with him doesnt mean it isnt hard what they do.
  • 1 0
what???i didnt know he served in the indian army...
  • 1 0
No he served in SAS, what do you mean indian?
  • 1 0
i just read it at wiki. no big deal.

Matt is an awesome dude! After I had my baby (and didn't have a bike to ride anymore) he lent me his brand new demo to go out and rip Harper Mtn to my hearts content. Great style, great guy.

*Would love to know what chilled out track is played throughout this video. This has to be one of the most inspirational videos i've seen on here for so long, I love the All mountain way of life!

Just found the song.. "Fin" by Phontaine Big Grin
  • 21 0
That sort of solo adventure looks like such a great time. You, your bike and the bush! Great edit, Matt!
  • 2 0
Who made the trails? Are they old prospectors trails or has some one gone out and cut them all out?
  • 13 0
Such a good edit. Nice to see that side of Matt as he is often portrayed as a big mountain guy, this shows that outdoors man that a lot of us also know him to be.
  • 12 0
this edit realy depicts why i love mountain biking you can got out for a few hours (or days if your matt hunter) and just forget all your worries that come with a 21st century life.
  • 13 0

Inspite all the crankworks coverage, RB Rampage footage, and WC race videos, this video is a standout. Top 3 in terms of fanning stoke in mountain biking. Captures the essence and soul of mountain biking and what it means to ride. Thanks for posting this.

 Amazing video !!

Finally some "true" mountain biking, the way it used to be !!

Cheers

Pinkbike would post more of this if people did more of it, sadly biking like this is fading out and resort riding is taking over. Not that I'm complaining about resort riding at all!
  • 1 0
then maby we should listen to national discovery channel and ''think again'' ride more like this! (:
  • 10 0
This inspires me to go on more epic rides. Well done.
  • 8 0

Anyone ever done an unsupported overnight ride like this? If so, what's your packing list? I can't figure out how he can fit everything for two days in a normal-sized backpack; it looks like he's riding pretty barebones. It looks like he doesn't bring a sleeping bag though, which should help save space. Here's what I figure you'd need to bring on a ride like this:

tarp for a shelter
rope
fire starter
water filter (he may not have brought this since he dips his mug right in the river, but it would be a good idea)
water bottle
headlamp
rain gear
warm jacket
  • 3 0
 retractable fishing pole w/ lures
the jacket is most likely a shell only, the warmth can come from base layer and a simple insulation mid layer. Fitting most of that into a pack really isn't to ridiculous, give it a try.

Filters can be brought along right inside of your bottle now as well.

Ohh yeah and sick vid, and solid title shot
  • 3 0
You can get sleeping bags that pack down ridiculously small nowadays. Especially if they're down filled. If its a small one though it won't be that warm.
  • 4 0
 Food
  • 1 0
-a small multi tool with a strong knife -bumwad -compact fishing gear -tin foil -gopro hd -tubeless tyres -Hunters attitude
  • 1 0
 Bumwad...No way...All you need is a stick...plenty around..!
  • 5 0
That was BRILLIANT!!! So inspirational! Want an s-works bike now and move to Canada and live it rough... Not sure my missus would agree though!
  • 4 0
awesome vid wish i could fave
  • 2 1
how r canadians and americans so calm around bears! if i was in his shoes i would be like FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKK!!!!!! but despite my pussyness insane edit matt, another great job by a great guy
  • 2 0
Because they're friggin' everywhere. Plus they're dumb as rocks, and up close they look pretty cuddly. Well not Grizzlys, but as long as you keep your cool when you meet them, they tend to leave you be.
  • 2 0
Agreed, it's so rare to be attacked. Then again i've only ever run into black bears.
  • 4 0
It's like survivorman but with bikes!! So good!
  • 1 0
this is such a fun trip and a different to do bike filming. now i know what my next video would look like. so i guess story telling and talking to myself would help make a good narration, LOL!
