The first time I watched this I didn't realize my laptop was on mute, so the second time I turned the volume up thinking I'd hear a cliche' sound track along the lines of "let the bodies hit the floor" but instead that........ whatever it was yeah the volume went off quickly......haha

That's the music the megavalanche chose to be at the start of every mega (in the alpe d'huez, don't know the other ones) ...

Yep, if you've done the mega, you'd appreciate the music. Appreciate, not like.

OK OK I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get neg propped for that but.... I can't help it Smile

Why do english speaking media always call this (sick) race the Mega Avalanche? Just curious. And if you're still convinced it's the real name, just check www.megavalanche.com
  • + 3
flag ibeaver (Aug 2, 2012 at 9:03)
why english speakers say "mega avalanche" cause its not a normal word case to not say it like that. Maybe if the association is with say Meg Ryan or Meg Curtis its easier but its not normal syntax in this case :-p Like cookie Kastle... :-)

damn wildman wildhaber got a good beating at the start... not sure how he got up and finished in top 20 - reshpeckt!

flag T1mb0 (Aug 2, 2012 at 12:20)
This place is the first 'English speaking media' that's called it that. The others get it right.

All the people slating the music need to lighten up. Yeah it sucks, but it's part and parcel of the Megavalanche experience.

i know it's sometimes better not to change a winning formula. things that arent broken no need to get fixed. this race is ledgen, i agree, it's awsome and great. but please, in the name that is all good in on this planet, for god's sake,... i implore you, the organiser, please, oh please. i'm begging ...stop playing that track when the tape drops and the races starts. i cannot stand it anymore. think of the poor bastard that actually have to hear it because they are there.

haha i think it should stay, it's part of the event, and the french are a good ten years behind the rest of the developed world in terms of music anyway. let them keep their backwards ways, I quite like them Smile

That whole start strait was a crash waiting to happen. With the odds of a first turn, or in this case a first strait crash I would probably have just gone with the outside start line haha let the carnage take place while I slip on by the very outside un noticed. Kind of like our Government. Any race with this many people at once is bound to have a starting wreck and its bound to happen where everyone wants to go. Hope everyone was ok!

So who was that who felt the need to bomb the inside like that before sliding out of the lead he held for only the slightest of moments?

flag T1mb0 (Aug 2, 2012 at 12:21)
That Rene Wildhaber , he's won it a few times.

the one and only legendary Rene Wildhaber. Is like some sort of Chuck Norris on wheels, he will race XC and DH the same day and ride his road bike home.

flag BDKR (Aug 3, 2012 at 11:20)
Ahhh...... Thanx! With a record like that, I can see why he was so aggressive at the start. Hope he was OK afterwards.

flag yeti85 (Aug 3, 2012 at 13:16)
Yup he's fine. Finished that Mega in 17th, which is impressive, had some deep flesh wounds I think.

flag ibeaver (Aug 3, 2012 at 13:32)
it wasn't until wildman signed with trek did he start getting some reshpeckt from outside of small europe, and even then it was just a small part of europe who knew who he was... he's a farmer when he's not riding which means he's tough like nails. He's a ski instructor when he can't rip on the bike... I'd vote for Wildman!
