Nic and Aaron have been working on projects together for over a year now. What started as an idea to collaborate on a project has developed into a new brand for the both of them: MindSpark Cinema. This partnership comes from a desire to better their product, and to further themselves as filmmakers. Their goal is simple - Create the best videos possible.

Partnering with Aaron will create a wider pool of knowledge, skills and contacts. This will provide opportunity for more creative brainstorming and will take our careers as filmmakers to the next level.
-Nic Genovese - Co-owner, MindSpark Cinema

I think we have a complimentary set of skills. That's the benefit of collaboration. We've worked together on many projects already. It's an exciting opportunity for both of us.
-Aaron LaRocque - Co-owner, MindSpark Cinema

Green River proved to be the perfect location to shoot our first video to announce our partnership. The creative potential of Southern Utah is limitless, the never-ending ridgelines provided the blank canvas we needed to portray our first work. It was this potential that inspired us to come to come here.

The light is a huge attraction to Utah. Low lying October sun extends sunset just a little longer providing us a wider window with which to capture gold.

The landscape is vast and possibilities seemingly endless. One could spend a lifetime here scouting lines and building features.

It's surprising how "raw" things can be here and still be entirely rideable. However, we did our fair share of work shaping the land.

With morning light coming early and work yet to be done we pushed on more than once until the sun had dropped below the horizon.

There's something to be said for digging in Utah. What would take days or weeks in B.C. is an afternoon project in Green River.

Howey built a rather large "flip flop" hip stepdown. A sweeping right hand berm that ends abruptly at a cliff edge, hipping onto an adjacent ridge.

This jump was a toss up whether it would actually work well. As Paul is demonstrating here, he made it work.

Ace Hayden rode some of the steepest loosest lines of the trip, showing us how they do things back in Kamloops.

Paul eyed this up and wanted to tuck no-hander it. 3 perfectly executed tucks and it was on to the next thing...

Paul is no stranger to the slopestyle scene so naturally big tricks were part of his gameplan when coming to Utah.

There's no shortage of spectacular backdrops here.

Maybe its just me, but I'm getting a little bored of that terrain already... And I haven't even seen WTTE yet.
  • 10 0
Well go see WTTE then... haha. A lot of what people do there on these edits are in the "same" areas and don't really touch the longer/gnarlier lines that you'll see in that movie because well... they simply don't have the time to do it. Then again maybe big mtn. riding isn't your cup of tea Wink

i think this terrain is cool, but in reality the majority of mtn bike riders want to see terrain they can ride locally... loam, roots, jump lines, in the woods stuff... i don't really get stoaked on this stuff, it all looks the same, like surfing: its cool and i respect the level of skills required but there is only sooo much you can do when it comes to cool video shots even though the tricks can be endless

^ a.k.a. not your cup of tea... haha but thankfully there are a bunch of other riders out there that may never make the pilgrimage out here but still enjoy the hell outta GR/Virgin riding. Anyways I know I did, a long while before I made the move out here (grew up a half hour away from ya!). Big mountain has a future! Yes... Smile

Awesome edit with killer riding! I've worked with both Aaron and Nic on a bunch of projects like the Pinkbike coverage of Crankworx, The World Champs, and Vegas etc. and they are both professional, talented, fun to shoot with and have solid work ethics. Cool to see them team up. MindSpark Cinema will go far!!! Can't wait to see what you come up with down the road...errr..trail. Give 'er boys.

I was thinking the exact opposite, I thought the riding audio was a little overdone. Then again, the riding audio in Where The Trail Ends was also overdone as well...

Do you guys use twixtor for slow motion? And what frame rate are you filming at? Amazing video!
  • 1 0
All the slow motion was done in camera, shot at various frame rates from 60 up to 240 fps.
  • 1 0
Sweet thanks for the reply! Ill do that now cuz it obviously works much better than Twixtor.
