The rock drop mid track had Needles recalling a couple dodgy wheelie drops out of helis back in his younger days... The first one was way sketchy you have to remember that what feels like a minor shift in a heli is usually about 5 feet--and pilots do not like to lose elevation. It was a bit interesting... The memories had Needles running hot laps through the back door and off the tail gate of the Gian trailer.

The controversy of this star bangled racing kit continues... At last year s US National Championships Neko Mullaly raced as a junior. But his time at the US National champs edged out eventual Senior overall winner Logan Bingelli now Neko has to race in the stars and stripes or face a hefty fine about a 1000 as I understand it --the UCI recognizes the fastest time regardless of category as the National Champ. Maybe he and Logan Binggeli can have an arm wrestling match to settle the score

For harder tracks like MSA it s not at all uncommon for riders to shadow each other in an effort to find the line. Cous-Cous following is a solid rider make no mistake but following an old dog like Mick Hannah will show your lines you never knew existed.

I don't know if its what caused his crash but I thought it was a good discussion. From a theoretical point of view a high pivot design seems like it would be more likely to buck you. because of the angle of the swingarm when it is rebounding compared to a low pivot or VPP design. Seems like it would have more pogo-stick potential and force the front of the bike down when going airborne in a situation like he was in. This crash just seemed too much like the one he had awhile back when he got bucked, and in both crashes it didn't look like he did anything wrong. Maybe he spent so many years on the low pivot bike hes still getting used to it. I know when I've switched suspension designs from high pivot to low pivot or vice-versa, after being used to one design in the past, the times when it feels the most different is on the jumps. I'm not saying its a bad bike or not a fast bike because obviously it can be ridden fast. Glad he is ok.

I can't believe I logged in just to down vote you two. Stupid train of thought. I honestly can't grasp how anyone could think that the bike would still be a significant and uncontrollable variable after all the testing and custom mods, suspension and geometry, these guys get.

Interesting that Protour and chajcu got voted down so much. This is mere discussion and statement of ideas and facts. Nobody is talking crap about Gee or GT. We as riders, racers, and bike makers don't get better if we don't look at this kind of stuff and ask these kinds of questions.

I find it funny that the UCI recognizes the fastest time regardless of category now. That was not the story for Ann Caroline when she was a junior and crushed everyone at Worlds. She petitioned the UCI, and was turned down.
  • + 2
flag Protour (Jun 22, 2012 at 9:14)
Yeah, she cried on the podium and now Logan is pissed. If the track is in the same condition that's fair, but sometimes the track is in better condition for the juniors cause its not so blown out or wet from rain. If they are going to do this them all countries should run the juniors immediately before the pros in their National Championships. Overall I like it cause the fastest time should be that of the champion, and it's exciting to see the young kids beat the older ones, but it has to be fair.

flag GingaCal (Jun 22, 2012 at 9:18)
