Fernie is truly one of the best mountain bike destinations in the world. There aren't many places where you can ride every discipline of mountain biking without getting in a vehicle. Fernie has everything from lift access DH riding, over 80 local single track trails, and a municipal dirt jump park and skatepark. Fernie's trail network is built for all levels of riders, including well marked trails that are graded from greens to double-black diamonds. Many locals say that they actually love the biking more than the powder, if you can believe that! My goal for the video was to try show how versatile Fernie really is, and why it is a must stop for any mountain biker.

 thats what mountain biking is about, just no matter what you ride, getting out there, even if its rolling all long on a push bike

 I moved here for the winter in 2010 then loved it so much I packed my bags and came back for good this winter. My experiences of Fernie's summer this year have already been incredible (despite the slightly wet BC Summer so far!) Anyone who has the opportunity to come visit Fernie... get involved!

 Nice video! I have not been to Fernie for a few years and I miss it. I have to admit that I am really paranoid about the degrading trail quality posts about the ski hill though since I am a Kicking horse local and have been wondering what RCR might do to our hill......

 My favourite place to ride, the bike park is the worst riding in the area and the bike park is not bad riding at all. Heard they have put a little more love into the Park to this year which is great to hear.

 Fernie rocks, for the old people this is where the TV series Twin Peaks was filmed, back in the early 90's.
Also happens to be a magical place to ride. Now i want to go back Smile

 I went for the first time last summer and I didn't want to leave. It was amazing. Trails of all skill levels and they were all mapped and signed. Only had enough time to ride one side of the valley (opposite from the ski hill) and that was enough to want to move to Fernie. Hyperventilation/Hyperextension were one of the highlights.

 Nic - one day I should bring the travelling onlne guidebook roadshow to Fernie to profile the town and select trails. This video and other comments from other people (MartinS) have reminded me that Fernie's changed a lot since sharon and I last visited over 10 years ago.

 Most Excellent! There have been a ton of new trails built and /or re-done in the last 5 years since IMBA did a trail building weekend here. We've been busy!

 Theres a few coal mines around fernie, thats where most folks make there living. Houses are a little on the expensive side.

 Houses are on the very expensive side. My girlfriend and I lived there for a year in a rental place, 700sq ft and they wanted 305,000 for it. Needless to say we moved to Rossland and got more than twice the house for the same price and still have amazing biking and skiing. For work it is pretty much all coal mine stuff or healthcare. But the riding is fantastic and the skiing rules so hard.

 Ouch....good to know. I visited Victoria last year and it was beautiful. Wished I had more time to actually explore further and bike, but wasn't able. Really thinking hard about moving to Canada at some point!

 Totally unrelated, but back in 2000 I went to Fernie on a snowboard trip and my friend jumped 60 ft. to flat (totally his fault) and got "slight" brain damage. Regardless, I'd love to bike that place, it has awesome topography!

 This place is incredible. Been there a few times. All levels of trails with DHing. Want to go back asap. BUT i remember mosqiutos being a big problem.

 They only get mosquitos for a couple of weeks in the spring . The rest of the time its mosquito free

 Both times I went it was in July. It got dark around 10 pm. All day long they were bitting. I have a picture of our guide getting mauled while doing dishes. And I want to go back it is that good.

 The mosquitos vary with the level of snow - good ski year, bad mosquitos due to the extra moisture. Some years you barely see them.

 B.C. is the only place in the world where you can have real fun on a mtn bike, there isnt any pathetic laws like here in the u.s. and Canadians are hands down the nicest people in the world. Wish i lived there....

 Agreed! no friends on powder day, specially when on the 1st run on the 1st lift up they go straight into the back of your legs !least i didnt break my leg though! summer holiday there needs to be done asap. great vid!!

 AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FERNIE.. you always suck balls, i am pretty sure the trails else wheres are as good and the attitude is 100% better. i mean you can even see it the eyes of the riders, if the trail was not there they would not ride it, make your own bitches, oh ya and when you cruise thru the pass just think of all the cool riding your missing..FACK FERNIE SUX... GO THERE AND ENJOY

 s'all good man...me and my buddy are doing a training session for 10+ of our friends this weekend. We have quite a few girls in our group too..maybe they can all ride together after the morning and we can go rip it! i'll make sure to keep an eye out for you guys!
