Watching mostly white, mostly well off kids, going off with lots of leisure time, on expensive bikes and insurance to cover their injuries to some degree is totally at odds with gangster rap which coveys the perspective of mostly poor, mostly black and hispanic kids trying to survive in a completely deprived, urban environment. it's disrespectful from a socioeconomic perspective and shows ignorance, an exploitive sense of entitalement and is a subtle form of racism. It also just doesn t work in a non urban video duh!
Now that is actually a (not very) subtle form of racism itself if I ever heard it.
It's disrespectful to make comments like that in this day and age. A piece of music is designed to provoke a certain emotion or feeling. Riding also does the same. Some may connect those feelings by hearing and seeing sounds and images together. Some like rock. Some like drum and bass. Some like hip hop.
If the riders or editors chose a piece of music to accompany the images, and you can't connect them, then that is your problem. Where the music comes from has no bearing on the validity of it's use, only the feeling or emotion it makes you feel. I do NOT believe in class division, as you obviously do, as this is what perpetuates racism in all of it's forms.
I agree with you that it is simply my opinion that the music doesn't go with the video.
Not "believing" in class, gender, racial division is a privilege had by those who are not constrained by it. I infer from your comments that you feel that it is disrespectful to mention race and or class in this day and age because the race and class thing no longer exists or is no longer an issue in your opinion? That is an extremely racist and class based comment and has no basis in reality. Historical or otherwise. How could you possibly decide for other people that they are no longer being subjected to power over dynamics from socio-economic and racial forces. Both social and systemic in nature? That is not your call. Finally, I am kinda black myself and so would have an issue being racist.
