North Shore Mtb Series – June 8 - 9

GET IN FOR EARLY REG SPECIALS (April 1st – 14th)

The Norco John Henry Bikes NS MTB Series (formally known as the Ripper Series), will be back again for 2013 under new management. Megan Rose, who has been running an annual 25 day road bike relay event across Canada each year, will be the new event director. Megan is super excited to take on this event and showcase the new style of enduro racing on the North Shore! She says we’ll have something for every style of rider over the weekend (June 8th & 9th) and she looks forward to getting all the local feedback to help this event grow in the future. The North Shore Mtb Series is run in conjunction with the MEC BikeFest North Shore. It’s the perfect location amongst the festival action with cold beer and burgers waiting after you cross the finish line!

Cash Prizing and plenty of random prize drawings throughout the weekend!

NS XC Marathon Race – Saturday June 8th:
We will be bringing back the XC Marathon to make it the only xc event on the North Shore. The course will be on Seymour starting and finishing at Inter-river park amongst the festivities of the MEC BikeFest. All racers in this category will not only get their XC Marathon overall time but will also be included in the Enduro category below, and get times for the 4 separate stages…. kind of like 2 races for 1 deal!!

NS Enduro – Saturday June 8th:
For those of you that are more into the ‘all mountain’ riding and not ready to max yourself out for 3+ hrs, then we will be showcasing the NS Enduro! Here you can ride with your buddies for the 3’ish hour course at a relaxed pace with untimed liaison sections and only get timed on the 4 downhill staged sections. Don’t be fooled though, these will still include a few little ups and flats to keep everyone honest and working hard during these timed sections! Timed sections will be between 2 mins and 20 mins. You will have the option of a 1 day or 2 day race.

NS Super D & NS Enduro (day 2 option)– Sunday June 9th:
The NS Super D will consist of one long run from top to bottom on Seymour. This course will also act as day 2 for those taking on the NS Enduro 2 day event. The course will leave you grinning from ear to ear and maybe your lungs working to the max!

Get in for the early registration deals from April 1st – 14th. Visit the website for all the details! Or contact Megan for any questions or sponsorship opportunities.

 We need this in Ontario.

I think a weekend event like this would be great at Blue Mountain.

We should try and create a community that would be interested in doing this. Not necessarily a whole event but I think a MTB club would be fun to explore trails with.

And there is one in Ganaraska Forest in Peterborough Paul's Dirty Enduro: here's some pf last year's info.

Paul's enduro is totally an xc marathon race. There are two definitions of enduro out there
  • + 1
Yes it is, and I was using it as a tie in between a comparison to the

"NS XC Marathon Race."

Plus regardless of the types of event/enduro, it's the closest event I have been able to find that would even come close unfortunately.

Regardless it all looks like a blast, i am thinking of checking out the Paul's Dirty Enduro trails this summer and checking them out.

Ah, i see... Yea i suppose it could be a stage. Probably a lot of work on a bigger bike though!
  • + 1
Would be a blast to see though!

Have you been by or ridden at Ganaraska by any chance? I heard it was pretty nice but haven't had the chance to do it yet. I think in a few weeks ill make the trip.

Setting up an enduro race in Ontario would be great, we have nothing like that around here probably because we are so vertically challenged. Does Blue have the trails needed to pedal up the mountain before taking some of the lighter dh down?
  • + 0
Terrain wise, I don't see why Blue wouldn't be a good fit.

all you maple leafs: i got none of this in virginia. no gravity mtb culture whatsoever. so shut yo traps and be happy with the culture you are lucky to have.

After burning out in the Dirty Duo race on the North Shore earlier this year I might have to give this series a try for redemption.

Anyone know how many stages are in day 1?
[Reply]
  • + 0
Why is this the same day as red bull divide and conquer?
  • + 3
because most people would rather do this then the divide and conquer
  • + 2
because divide and conquer is about pain and lycra this is about fun and bikes
  • + 1
Because its running in Conjunction with the MEC Bike Fest which dates have been set for a long time and has always been on these dates each year until red bull decided to do their event on the same weekend!! Sham though as I know people that would like to do both....but this one will be way cooler Wink
  • + 1
how is an enduro and a marathon not about lycra and pain?
  • + 1
ummmmm its enduro aka dh with a lil bit of uphill....
  • + 1
this marathon and enduro involves lots of pedaling, so the fastest guys/gals will still wear lycra
so why are you afraid of pain and lycra anyway?
