As the Tahoe mountain bike season reaches it's closing, Mikey Sylvestri gets in his few last laps of the season at Northstar California. This video features the newly built Gypsy Trail after half of it was washed away from torrential rains, as well as other trails. A big shout out goes to the trail crew at Northstar for working hard to provide a fun place to ride.

The problem here in Montana is we get a sh*t ton of snow every year, and when you have 4-7 feet of snow on a trail, all the studs and spikes in the world isn't gonna help. We end up turning into cave dwellers all winter watching the same mountain bike videos we've seen a thousand times, just to keep are spirits up enough so we don't kill are self, knowing in 6-7 months will be riding again.

Man I hate winter Frown

Oh we tried that. 5 of us spent a whole Saturday digging out a decent section on the horse trail and the weather said it was supposed to be sunny on Sunday, but typical Montana weather it dumped snow solid for the next three days, covering everything back up that we had dug out. A person's soul can only take so much heart break! No it sucks but we usually just brake out the sleds and go mobin some hill climbs and railin powder in the woods!

Oh ya montana a diff story. Really too much snow for bikes, but epic conditions for all other winter sports. If you want to ride ship your bike south and go below the snow line. Here on east coast we go to florida but out west head to the desert.

Lol you guys ever heard of montana? They get redicilous snow and have the most rugged terrain on earth. They actually shut down ski resorts out there because snow too deep. If you cant ski have no chance on bike. Here in ny we ride thru all of winter and love every minute of it. The winter can make you a stronger rider or some people choose to stay inside where its safe and warm. We call those hobby riders, only out in the good conditions. Meanwhile we out hucking huge jumps in snow having a blast.

Endless xc, literally can ride into gulf of mexico. Tons of rocky singletrack, huuuge dirt jumps and a whole freeride area with wood features. It doesnt matter where you from go check out florida.  Here in Canada -18 is a relief, we have to suffer through -30 most of the winter. And for all you who dont know, it is not unusual for a ski hill to get a 10ft base of snow.... digging that out would be a bitch!

@Protour : totally agree with you buddy, worst of that is when the ice road will open up north, conflict will start (they already are, canada and USA are arging about the submarine frontier between both our country (alaska vs canada, up north). Than people will try to bomb shit or whatever to control this road and you know ...shit happens.

Problem is, there are human living on this planet (you might be part of that specis) and most of those creature don't care at all, cause caring is not giving them money to buy the stuff they don't need, and they can't care much about what will happen to futur generation : cause they'll be dead.

I don't care what the lift looks like at Northstar, I don't care how you walk your bike off the ramp, or put your goggles on. Almost 1/2 of this video is garbage. The rest is absolutely sick. Wouldn't it be better for the whole thing to be sick. How many video's have we seen that show a chairlift spinning? Does anyone care?

gotta feel the music too though, riding is what we want but most of us putting together edits are upcoming and enjoy the art of the film as well as the riding aspect. I dont want to watch nature for one minute then riding, so at least this mixes in parts of the bike, the lift, it brings you into the riding makes you feel like your there.

Wow, wow, wow. Mikey is wearing a 510 t-shirt, T-Shirt! 510 has a few World Champs under their belt and also happens to sponsor Mikey. The strips are not on the collar and don't have a UCI badge. He is not trying to front like he's a World Champ. If you think that wearing that shirt gives you any right to talk bad on his riding, you are mistaken. The dude is a solid rider and completely owns it at Northstar. Out of all of the riders in the world, Mikey holds it down at that resort the best. He is winning every time he swings his leg over a bike, so keep your pointless name dropping of legends for a better time.

flag Protour (Oct 14, 2012 at 21:44) (Below Threshold) show comment
I don't care if 5 10 made the shirt, it's a disengenuous act for a pro racer to be wearing it in a video that will get alot of attention, even if he is just an average pro who has yet to get into a World Cup final. LMFAO @ "winning every time he swings his leg over a bike."

That's not pointless name dropping either, it's showing respect for the REAL World Champions, something this throttle-twisting scrub jumper needs to learn a lesson about.

The fact is, he is wearing a 5.10 shirt, and they happen to sponsor him. If you have a problem with rainbow stripes on their shirts, you should talk to 5.10.

I don't care if you call me names, I'm only interested to see if you have any valid points to make in regards to the argument I am making...and of course you have nothing in that department. It's ok for a fan to wear that shirt, it's probably even ok for Sylvestri to wear it when he is at home chillin. But don't fricken wear it for a video that's gonna get posted all over the web. Hell, he hasn't even participated at World's, it's completely disrespectful.
  • + 4
flag Session603 (Oct 15, 2012 at 14:28)
The problem is the argument you're making in the first place. I don't give a shit if he wears a shirt that says "I AM GEE ATHERTON". I'll give you credit though... Along with being a sad little man-boy you're also one of the more effective trolls on PB. That's quite the accomplishment for a man-boy in his 40's.
  • - 6
flag Protour (Oct 15, 2012 at 16:29) (Below Threshold) show comment
I wouldn't care if he wore a shirt that said "I'm Gee Atherton", cause that would obviously only make him look stupid. Instead he is wearing the stripes that indicate that at some point in his career he won the biggest race, a race he's never competed in. There is a big difference.

Feel free to at any time make your first valid point, clones. It's easier to just hit the negative props button or call names, isn't it? But what does that say about you? A lack of substance perhaps?

Maybe he wore it in support of his teammate Holly Feniak... Or maybe he threw it on that morning and went out for a ride.
And as far as you "educating" me, that will never happen.
You ARE a troll and always have been. All your comments are attempts to start pointless arguments, the only reason I bit on this one is because I know Mikey on a personal level and consider him a friend. You have also lied and misrepresented yourself. Further up the page you posted, "Yes I have helped make some mtb movies. Look at my profile dummy."

Here you are saying to check your profile for proof of helping make videos, there is no proof. Then you say, "made you look". Sounds like something a 5th grader would do.

So until you have substance to back up your arguments I suggest you stop starting shit. I'll gladly admit that I reported you and emailed Brule. I can only recommend others do the same. You have not contributed anything relevant to this site or the community it represents. Your days ARE limited here, at some point a mod will get tired of your shit and you'll finally be gone.

It was at least somewhat insulting to Cru Jones, and extremely insulting for me, someone who respects DH history and understands the proper rituals and hierarchy of mountainbike racing. It's also insulting to other pros, some of whom I might mention have made noise about this false act in their Twitter posts. This was a bad decision by an obviously naive racer, but I'm sure he won't repeat this mistake.

5 10 sells this shirt for fans to buy, the same kind of fans who like to wear their favorite football players jersey, you know those baggy jerseys I'm talking about? The kind that are always too big, no matter what size you buy. Sylvestri is not known as a fan, he is a current, up and coming pro who needs to respect his elders and their accomplishments, as opposed to cheapening them and all the hard work that went into earning them. The rainbow jersey doesn't come easy, just ask Peatty, it is a special accomplishment that deserves reverence, especially from your fellow professionals.

I understand what all of you are saying about the stripes, but its NOT a world champ jersey! And I'm not trying to fake of be something i am clearly not....want to know the truth about why I had that on. it was closing day at the mountain and I just happened to put that on that morning.... When I arrived, I ran into a friend that wanted to film abit, not knowing that was the case i didn't have any jerseys with me to wear in my truck... So What the T-shirt has the stripes on it, I didn't think people would take it out of context ... I ride for a company that has treated me like family as well hosts a list of of World champs, So wearing that represents a company of friends and family! I just wanted to clear that up...

Sick vid, but Northstar Sucks, sorry but it does. Tahoe is killer and there is better riding for free around there.

Hey Newbie I would shred you on any trail there, I've been going there longer than you've been riding. SHut the Fuck up. There is a lot better riding in the Sierras for free you just don't know where to go because your an idiot. Your name is perfect too NEW-bie . at 17 years old I don't expect you to be very smart, I've riden all over the world how about you young gun

Where are the good places to ride out there? Bummed that N* is closed so would be awesome if I could ride some DH runs in the off season.
