 people are still buying it. CB may not be very good, but it's damn good looking. That's what a lot of people are attracted by

 I've actually put CB headsets on my bike for the last two seasons without any problems. I buy because of the relatively low stack height and weight more than I care about the looks. They've have gone through pump track hell and some freeride abuse and the worst thing I can say they've done is that the rubber o-rings that come with the headset for the lower half randomly vanish about ten miles into use. I'm not saying that they'll stand up to being ridden hard 24-7, and the complaints from the majority of the internet aren't to be ignored, but for the riding I do they seem to work just fine.

 The fact that you needed to replace the headset after every season doesnt say anything to you ?

 I needed to replace the headset because when I sold the frame, the headset went with it. When I picked up my new frame, I got an Iodine tapered headset and it's still holding. I've been feeling icky today so my communication isn't as good as it should be...
