Erm I won't go into details, cos I'm sure that CRC are big and stupid enough to defend themselves, and I'm certainly not one for jumping to the defence of some big ass company, but if you actually look at the site they have some pretty crazy deals on at the mo...
cos like fuck LBS' y'know
Just a heads up, I had one of the crank brothers headsets and both cups shattered landing off a pretty small jump, exact same thing happened to my mate with the same model headset! CRC sent me a replacement straight away but sold it and bought a chris king....put me off crank brothers products especially as the headset was about £100 rrp!
I struggle to see how CB is still in buisness. They make absolutely nothing of value except the packaging. The pedals are thick and heavy, the posts stop adjusting, the headsets crack, the wheels.... oh the wheels!! how is it that the message isn't getting through to people???
I've actually put CB headsets on my bike for the last two seasons without any problems. I buy because of the relatively low stack height and weight more than I care about the looks. They've have gone through pump track hell and some freeride abuse and the worst thing I can say they've done is that the rubber o-rings that come with the headset for the lower half randomly vanish about ten miles into use. I'm not saying that they'll stand up to being ridden hard 24-7, and the complaints from the majority of the internet aren't to be ignored, but for the riding I do they seem to work just fine.
I needed to replace the headset because when I sold the frame, the headset went with it. When I picked up my new frame, I got an Iodine tapered headset and it's still holding. I've been feeling icky today so my communication isn't as good as it should be...
