Recently we created a video player that is simple, fast and works on the majority of browsers old and new. Here are some features...
1. Highest Quality on the InternetAdded 1080p quality and increased the bit rate of our conversion to show the best quality of your videos. Four versions of all videos will be created when you upload.
1080p = 1920 x 1080 at 4.0 Mbps
720p = 1280 x 720 at 2.5 Mbps
480p = 640 x 480 at 1.2 Mbps
320p = 480 x 320 at 0.5 Mbps
2. Short Cuts Click on video - starts/stops video
Space bar - starts/stops video
3. Slow Motion ControlsWe added the ability to view the video frame by frame. This is especially useful when you are viewing a jump or trick and want to analyze how it's done.
Right arrow - Very slow sub frame slow motion forward.
Left arrow - Slow motion back by keyframe.
4. Faster Video ConversionWe reworked how our conversion system functions and added extra servers to speed up and handle the growing popularity. When you upload a video, four separate convert jobs are spawned on different servers to convert the video into different qualities in parallel.
5. Html5/Flash EmbedIframe default embed, so when you embed Pinkbike videos they will auto-detect mobile devices and play correctly on devices that don't have flash.
6. New Embed OptionsYou can now alter certain elements of an embedded video.
Color: Select a different color for the video accents/controls to match the site you're embedding to.
Autoplay: Add an autoplay option to start the video immediately when page loaded
Loop: Will loop to the beginning when video gets to end
Show/Hide : You can show or hide the headshot, byline, and title
7. Larger Video FormatYou can now click the expand button on video pages and have all the videos you watch expand to a wider format. Your choice will be remembered.
Click to expand
8. Personal playback settingsWhen you go to "Edit Profile" for your user, you can set a few playback settings that work for your account.
We will be adding additional features so stay tuned.
1. lack of a quick mute button (fixed 7 hours after comment)
2. cursor disappearing in full screen on photos (fixed 1 hour after comment)
3. PB Roku channel (not yet fixed, but replied instantly)
4. Remove PB logo in bottom right corner on videos (fixed 7 hours after comment)
5. Gave info on best video codec (h.264) for highest quality playback
Well done!!
In full screen there is a limitation that when you initially go full screen, you have to move the mouse, before it disappears. This looks like a browser/flash security "feature".
Only thing i miss is the ability to easily share videos across other sites/boards etc... For instance a "share" button with various options.
The addition of smart tv share functionality like youtube has would be amazing.
Being able to watch videos in hd on a 65" plasma at the click of a button would be amazing.
i suggest this:
1- personal saved embed options.
2- Watch later button feature.
3- Create and embed playlists.
You need to use Dolphin web browser (free and safe from Google Play store) with an additional quick Adobe Flash player APK install.
1. Install Dolphin browser from Google Play store (free) then install Dolphin Jetpack add on from Google Play store (also safe and free)
2. Allow APKs from unknown sources "Settings > Security - Unknown sources Settings-> " check box (this is so you can install the adobe flash player, which google stopped supporting)
3. Download the latest Flash Player for Android ht tp://helpx.adobe.com/de/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html (scroll down to "Flash Player for Android 4.0 Archive" )
4. install the just downloaded Flash Player (without Google Play verification)
5. Start Dolphin and click on the dolphin icon in the lower left corner and select the right menu icon.
6. Select Settings > User Agent > "Desktop"
7. Select (still Settings) > Web Content > Flash Player > "Always On"
8. Step 2 requires that users allow install of packages from sources other than the google play store… after installing the FlashPlay APK it is a good idea to return this setting to the default “do not allow”
I found this solution on this page forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336-- SCROLL DOWN TO “NEW Flash player android 4.4” located at the end of the first post in the thread.
Remember, you can just use the Dolphin browser to view this one site (or other flash stuff), so you do not need to feel like you have to abandon chrome. I just put a bookmark on my homescreen to pinkbike and set the default open program for the ONE page to "use Dolphin". It even looks like there is a pinkbike app on my homescreen now...
PB is really the best website on earth ^^
