with absolutely no disrespect to the fastest man in the world, and my fellow american. Iv been wanting steve smith to win all season... id be psyched if he won worlds as his first ever world level event win.
As much as I love and idolize Steve, my voting for him in a poll on Pinkbike won't make him more likely to win. If there was a separate poll for who we WANT to win Worlds instead of who we think WILL win Worlds, Steve would have my vote.
Yeeea!! peaty will own it, he's just been doing a sly attack letting people think he's slowly dropping out the competition but he's gunna win this with a gwin gap special
Don't know why Hill isn't on here. He won it 2 years ago after being out for most of a season, and he's won it before that too. You'd think a veteran of the race who's won it 3 times would be on the list.
rachel is going to win it, although I'd love to see micayla gatto take the win, if were lucky gee will take the win to to repeat the atherton double world champs! oh ya somebody kidnap gwin
I hate to say it but it's going to be Gwin...I can just see it. In an ideal world I'd like to see one of the brits (especially Fairclough, OR STEVE PEAT) taking it, or, failing that maybe one of the younger guys, just to shake things up.
Fairclough would be difficult, since he's not racing. We all thought it was a shoe in to begin with and then after Danny Hart injuried himself, but apparently due to some odd rules he can't take part. He himself said it on twitter a while ago. Bummer tho. Peaty taking the win would indeed be awesome, or Gee man, he deserves one already, his last win was on 2010.
It's fun to try and predict who wins, but the World Champs can be the place to where many riders can gamble on one race and look to shine. Aaron Gwin is certainly a solid pick, esp now that he clinched the WC title and can afford to push his limits, but I'm more interested in seeing how the newer guys shake up the top 10. Troy Brosnan and Mitch Ropelato, among others, seem like they are primed for some spotlight. Especially Troy, who def seems podium worthy and looked to be in decent shape at Crankworx. Mitch is gonna rack up some points for my Dirt Fantasy team.
It's going to be one hell of a race to watch. Not gonna expect anything like Danny Hart's legendary run. I can't really picture how it will turn out; I just have a feeling that it's going to be rather unpredictable and wild.
Im going Troy or Blenki. Blenki won Qualifying here in 2010 so he has the potential to do it and Troy is just always fast on everything.. Even coming off an injury he was awesome at Crankworx. I'd also like to see Sam do well. He's been building up all season and this could be the one he wins. And im not quite sure how Myriam Nicole has more votes than Floriane Pugin.. Myriam has a broken collarbone?
Sereiously its anyones game to take the win!! forcast is ment to be pissing rain there for the rest of the week which excites me as anyone has a realistic chance of winning it since rain will be the equalizer! yewwww but all you people just watch out for the Monster Energy Spesh boys! they have something up their sleves!
Honestly, I want to see Leov win. He's always been one of my favorites to watch over the years and it would be awesome to see him take a win right before retiring. It would also be cool to see Spagnolo win here after coming in 2nd last year. If he can hold his run together he'll be a threat.
That being said I voted for Stevie.
For sure. I was telling a friend a couple of days ago that there's no less than 15 riders with a legit shot at winning this one...and at least a dozen other riders that could pull out the magical run. Can't wait two more days - going to be some tight racing!!
I agree,
Gee has been so consistant this year and has just picked up the national crown again, confidence must be high and he is hungry for a win at the world's, I think he can pull something special out of the bag.
Rachel is the lady in form at the moment, she has to be the favorite to take the title.
Got the same feeling it could we be a 1-1 for the Athertons, sons going Gwen and Ragot. He will be punished in a minute, lol. Just hope its a great race.
Aweful poll. No Sam Hill in the mens and no Casey Brown in the womens.
My money is on Stevie for the mens anyway but not having either of these 2 on the list is pretty pathetic.
The Kiwis are getting faster and faster - I think think they will be the next country to dominate the Top Ten. The Brits did it. Aussies did it. The French did it. Someone else's turn now.
He's been on the bench this season man with injuries and all! I don't hate on him not a bit. I do like Sam and I'm sure next season will be a lot better for him. We saw him climb the ranks this yr once he got back. I'd like to see him and Gwin go at it like Gee and Greg did in 2010
He's only been out of the top 10 twice this year, granted not blistering form but he's still surely a threat especially in Austria (remember his form in Schladming) and remember after a season of injuries he came back to win 2010 world champs in MSA with only a few weeks of riding under his belt. Hill is ALWAYS a threat...
Hill would have won at Val d'Isere if he didn't have that bobble just before an uphill section. He was in full-form otherwise. I'm not a "fan-boy", either. He definitely looked like the Sam otherwise. Don't discount him one bit. All the same, I voted Ratboy.
we need Gwin to win it, so the rest of the riders would stop flapping their gums that he has won won the "Worlds Championship". The "One Precious" Race!
I'd be rooting for the horse! That would be one really bad ass horse! I know I've seen some do better than many amateurs, but to see one competitive with the pros is would be unbelievable.
what happened to all the brits who jumped on that danny hart banwagon?????? haha!! i know hes out with an injury but hart seemed to not do a whole lot of things this season. just shows winning ONE race does not make you the best. all those 5/10 videos and crap, haha makes me chuckle.
yea but everyone was comparing him to gwin at the end of that race. thats just foolish. gwin is by far one of the best to ride a mountain bike. he came onto the circuit and immediately became one of the top dudes, his second year of riding DH he became a WC rider. dannys been riding since he was just a wee lad and he still cant put together a solid run. so all that danny hart hype was like saying james stewart would do alot better on that suzuki. nope. still the same old james falling at every race and making execuses. so anybody that says danny is the best is just an arrogant douche.
Who was comparing Hart to Gwin? they are completely different riders (Build, style, power, etc...)
"Danny’s been riding since he was just a wee lad and he still can’t put together a solid run" last year in Chambery the solidest run I have ever seen.
"Gwin is by far one of the best to ride a mountain bike" yes on a Downhill bike.
Not sure there was ever a Danny hart bandwagon, he's just a top bloke who love's to ride his bike, that's why people like him. Good luck to Gwin I think he will take the win but I hope it’s Peaty 20 year and all that.
When hart wasn't out injured this year he had a 6th at Val de Sole, 2nd at Fort Bill, 3rd at Mont. St. Anne, 4th at Widham. That's not hype. And asking "What happened to all the brits who jumped on that danny hart banwagon?????? haha!! is really insulting to everybody who supports him and happens to be British. Nobody's been able to touch Gwinn, but that doesn't mean everybody else is shit.
haha due to one spelling mistake!! you're knowledge on riders is terrible. and your negative attitude is even more terrible. so shut up, no one cares if you don't like hart, everyone else loves him. end of.
I gotta vote for Gwin. 1. Hes American 2. I ride and love my session 3. Hes been Gwinning a lot this whole season so i expect him to open up another can of whoop ass and do exactly just that.
In all seriousness, I wouldn't be shocked to see Sender Steve pull off the win this weekend. He was close @ Windham and did OK @ Crankworx with a thinner field - all the same, the DH hat-trick @ Crankworx is not something to totally dismiss.
My gut says Gwin, my heart says Peat, my bones say "????". In my head, Bryceland seems primed to explode...just not like he did at Champery in last year's Worlds.
