At the beginning of the year, is born the first Portuguese Bike Park located in Ponte de Lima.

The Bike Park is the perfect spot insert in a protected park with unique species in the country and the world. It's possible to enjoy this bike park during all year.

The management is in charge of Diogo Amaral, the great designer of this project. He’s also responsible for the building and all of the architecture of all tracks. Had the essential support of the Chamber of Ponte de Lima and throughout the community for biking always in growth.

In a year so harsh for everyone, nothing better than earning a sweet Christmas present early. In addition to boosting the region will allow bikers from all over the country and even in Europe, improve their capabilities required for real champions. Transportation to the park is made up of vans fully equipped with seating for everyone and a trailer built for the proper effect.

The price is appropriate in all circumstances, with values of 20 € per day and € 25 on weekends, per person. During the week is required a minimum number of reservations for six people. This too all the logistics work accurately and normality. All this must be done through the reservation Web site created for this purpose, as well as dissemination of the park. Thus it will be able to enjoy the most of this site. Do not forget that this park is situated in a nature reserve, so we have to respect the fauna and flora that are so important in the balance of the planet. Like any project of this scale and targeted to a specific audience (but also to the general public, but otherwise), shall not be an object with given stagnant and completed, and for that, Diogo Amaral, is already preparing to build some more entertainment for example: a line of Dirts and Pump track. Surely to please all.

To whom is the Bike Park

photo

This is a spot that covers a large number of people because it is feasible to do all this park on a bike, whatever it may be, and above all safely and with a sense of learning and evolution when going down the hill tracks.

The surrounding landscape will involve each one with a personal and positive vibe.

To know more please refer to the current national champion said on their website: "I consider this place as a center for high performance mountain bike in a national level and soon in Europe.”

Passphrase for a future attractive, but who am I to disagree with someone who ran the best spots in the world? Little words that provided a good future for the Bike Park.

As such, whether riders or beginners worldwide, are all welcome, and above all can enjoy from your machine, exchange among sports lovers and also be witnesses to something magical and constantly growing.

If the goal is to have fun on a bike during an end-of-week free, then Ponte de Lima is definitely the place to visit!

photo

We should not forget the food that the whole country welcomes well and the sympathy the Minho people.

In the medieval town of Ponte de Lima we can travel to the past, but never forget that it is this that underpins the future. Place of utmost importance since Roman times, through the Visigoths and Celts. It is also a reference point for thousands of pilgrims in demand to Santiago de Compostela.

Facilities at the Bike Park

photo

Within the general concept of a bike park, these facilities are great.

The waiting time for public transport, which is done through two vans which have all seats and also to our own dear girls (bikes) tied securely. And therefore an asset for all. There is also a small lounge space where you can enjoy the wonderful views and snacking, as already mentioned the wonderful cuisine of Minho.

At the beginning and end of the track, there are shelters for rain or other severe weather.

For sleeping, nothing better than to stay on the premises of the Penteiros Farm in Ponte de Lima; Local magnificent and inserted in green spaces, where we can camp, caravanning or make use of idyllic Bungalows to a very affordable price. In the morning, nothing better than waking up and listening to the snipes chanting.

All these information are available on the internet.

The tracks

photo

The Bike Park has a slope of approximately four hundred and fifty meters, and with respect to descents, there are 10 tracks with varying degrees of difficulty, between 2.8 km and 4 km.

photo

The Bike Park Ponte de Lima has been designed to suit everyone: from the slopes, at the highest point to the dirt road rally, the fast sections, with many relevés where we can find some over 20 meters long, with several changes of rhythms between areas faster and slower parts, but always with great flow and lots of driving! A very good time spent is volatile, but unforgettable.

Within the section of the woods, there are more options 9 tracks, this section steeper, find clues and worked very much fun! The extensions of the tracks vary: the shorter (lane 4, 5,6,7,8,9) to take an elite athlete, about 5 to 7 minutes, lane 2:03 about 8 minutes and the track 1 each fantastic 10 minutes!

Being a Bike Park for all as we have mentioned, we have the bonus of being able to enjoy even more Enduro 2 circuits 17 and 22 km in length and also a circuit Super Enduro 60 km. Starting in the 600 meters high is started up 4 km, all of it in the Roman road that leads to the highest point of Minho: Lady of the Minho (Sra. do Minho) with 825 meters of altitude.

photo

Enjoy the view of the river Lima and register the moment with some good shots, is something very invigorating. Soon we begin the descent, there are two options: an aggressive (which we can consider black run) which ends on the south side of the village Cerquido, 400 meters.

We descend the 425 meters in a 2.8 km track long, or you can opt for a less aggressive track, but longest about 3.5 km. This ends on the north side, near the Bike Park.

Both descents allow us to enter the Bike Park and down to the final 136 meters. There we have available service lift pass enduro, where we pick up the vans that take us back to the beginning of the Bike Park!

photo

There is also a circuit initiation MTB 10km, starting and ending at the Bike Park and further XCM 4 circuits 20, 40, 60 and 100 km.

Regarding XCM pathways, these begin and end at the Bike Park, where we can take advantage of multiple paths with varying degrees of difficulty, all of them very different and where we can find almost everything! There are also some harder routes to be marked by the brilliant athlete Luis Leão Pinto and he also enjoy for its daily workouts! Also available, some softer pathways in the surrounding area of Arga de Cima e de Baixo. Perfect to enjoy the high mountain without suffering and also great for beginners!

Even better is taking a weekend and enjoy a good day Mountain Bike!

We can always rely on monitoring the Bike Patrol, Diogo Amaral and Carlos Castro, truly tireless in all that relates to this project, without forgetting that it is always feasible continuous monitoring during the stay at the Bike Park!
