With an in-depth web series, live voting and a groundbreaking digital experience in partnership with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, fans can experience Rampage from every angle.
New for 2013: - Each year only about a thousand lucky fans get to attend Red Bull Rampage in person, set in the remote landscape of the Southern Utah desert, which requires miles of hiking, hill climbing and getting down in the dirt to watch their favorite athletes defy gravity and showcase their next-generation progressive tricks. Now the hundreds of thousands of fans around the world who tune into the live webcast (1pm MT, October 13th, 2013) can feel like they are in the heart of the action, with live voting and a prize given for Red Bull Bike People’s Choice immediately after the event.
- Enhanced on-screen experience also allows for chat where fans can comment and discuss what runs (or crashes) were best
- Heats-on-demand available shortly after the athletes finish their line. Simply log on to www.redbull.com/rampage to experience and follow @redbullbike to get the live links to each heat as soon as they’re available.
- Red Bull in partnership with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer will be showcasing a new immersive and interactive web experience that will bring Rampage to life online like never before, so be sure to check the site for more details as the event gets closer.
- Before the event, get caught up to speed on all the key story lines, training, trials and tribulations it takes to make it to the big event in the Road to Rampage web series, premiering every other Wednesday on Youtube.com/redbull between now and December 18th.
In addition to the online experience, fans can tune in on December 21st, 2013 to the broadcast of Red Bull Rampage on NBC at 2:30 pm ET, presented by Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE and brought to you in partnership with Dodge Dart, GoPro, the Utah Sports Commission, Specialized and Oakley. You can hate on Internet Explorer all you want (and probably for good reason) but the fact remains that Microsoft is dropping money to sponsor this great event. Yup, Microsoft, not Apple, not Google but Microsoft. Without sponsors, those of us that are not able to be there wouldn’t be able to watch this at all, hell, without sponsors Rampage probably wouldn’t happen at all. So I say kudos to Microsoft for sponsoring a mountain bike contest in the middle of nowhere and I hope to see their name in the mix next year too. Now the only question is if I can watch using Firefox.
Totally agree, the logistics involved in a MTB event can be overwhelming for just a small group of enthusiast. I need sponsors for my bike park!!!! Facebook Freeride Park Sierra del Tigre
Too bad it's a partnership with MSIE, as this isolates Mac users who can't use that browser and worse furthers the popularity of such a crappy browser (IE is the bane of every web designer's existence).
Mutiny5050: Do you really think that Red Bull needs more money? If they can afford to sponsor two Formula 1 teams I'm pretty sure they can afford to pay a few bikers....
Personally I'm all for IE. Firefox issue 290 is rubbish and as soon as you use chrome Google nicks all your information and suddenly you get adverts for dildos. I only searched for them once and it wasn't for me.
I'm a Mac user. You could download a browser plugin to display it as though you're using IE. or just use something like parallels and actually watch it in IE...
It's all good saying they are pumping money in so you are all for it but they have to keep their biggest sponsor happy and that's us the fans ! Just hope they sort the live stream out in time and we don't have the problem of it crashing or freezing !,
Yea who is that guy? I admittedly have only been following this stuff for a few years but that guy seems like a staple to mountain bike broadcasts. Whats is deal? Is he one of those guys that's sort of like a legend now? Like he part of the furniture at this point?
Last year's announcers did not seem to really emphasize how difficult almost every single part of a run is. I feel they should do what Rob Warner does, and that is explain why and how something is amazing, giving better explanations to the technical difficulty of a slow roll into a drop, describing the amount of balance and finesse required to ride a slightly off-camber, extremely loose, line with a fairly steep drop-off into jagged rock 30 feet below. Saying "What a huge Gap!" doesn't seem to give a proper perspective. Otherwise, with the angles that are shown on the signature series, it is not a very audience friendly experience, I'm sure we can come up with some other tips for the commentators.
He's been around since the very beginning... AND IT SUCKS. Brad needs to go before he acts like a jackass in front of an even wider audience.
Maybe he'll get so drunk this year that he will just pass out in the desert heat before finals... one can only hope.
We should also differentiate here between the two broadcasts and the commentary. The live webcast featured different announcers than the piece that aired on NBC (which I only caught about 5 minutes of). I think the live broadcast had Pat Parnell (a veteran action sports commentator) and Richie Schley (who has first hand knowledge of riding the event. A combo like that should work well. But who was on the NBC broadcast? Wasn't it Jamie Bestwick? He's awesome inhis own right but prob not the best analyst for a big mountain freeride contest.
I don't mind Brad for after run comments beats that NBC guy. Tippie and Rob warner in the box with maybe some cameo's from Rheeder, Sorge and Soderstrom. I thought Cam McCaul was the best back in 2010 I think. Richie Schley isn't too shabby at putting some words together but, he lacks Tippie and Rob's enthusiasm and misses some of the trick calls. Just cause IE is sponsoring can't I watch on the redbull player like last year?
I hate those chat feed things where "fans can comment and discuss what runs were best". An 'enhanced' version of that would be the ability to turn it off. Its a bunch of 12 year olds calling each other names, people typing "wooooooooooooo" over and over again and people with better internet connections ruining the results for me!
Will there be viewing online besides the Red Bull site? Any WCT surf contest that is webcast through Redbull tv is impossible to watch...stream skips and freezes constantly! Useless
So excited to head down and watch Rampage his year. Totally had a biking trip planned, but I just separated my shoulder. I think Rampage on its own will be just fine though...
maybe they should just give it to norbs this time just so I don't end up reading a million and one comments saying he got robbed...
seriously though im looking forward to seeing mike Montgomery and Kelly mcgarry ride particularly.
if he does we need to discontinue rampage. pretty sure they red bull knows he got robbed so they showed his 3 in that clip a bunch of times because it was the best freakin trick of rampage! GO NORBS we got ur back!
What, no tata communications link via fibres ala f1?! Ultra hd... Nice job on the partnership. ..ya these contests webisodes gta be at least level to surfing.
At last year's rampage he rode an amazing run with multiple 360 drops and just got a really low score. Happens pretty often for a lot of riders but this one was just ridiculously underjudged
just something about keeping away because he might injure himself / isn't willing to go for it and put himself in dangerous positions for a non wc dh event
Who normal use Internet Explorer???!!!!! Only old people who don't know how to change their website browser.... C'mon You sholud've done it for Chrome!
