It’s been nearly a decade since Red Bull Rampage was held in consecutive years, but in 2013 the world will not have to wait to see the best of the sport let loose in Virgin, UT. Known throughout the mountain bike community as the ultimate big mountain freeride spectacle, Red Bull Rampage is the place to prove who is the most daring and well-rounded rider in the sport’s most respected event.
The event will continue to showcase the riders’ boundless drive for progression. Last year a new, higher ridgeline was used as the start gate for the finals. Riders have just tapped the surface of possibilities, as discovered by 2012 champion Kurt Sorge on a scouting mission earlier this year, when new lines, and a world of new possibilities were unearthed. Will there be bigger canyons to sail across, deeper descents, and new lift offs to flip and spin riders into infamy? The riders will unearth the answers this October. Joining Sorge will be riders across mountain bike disciplines including Brandon Semenuk, Cam McCaul, Darren Barrecloth, Gee Atherton, Graham Agassiz and Martin Söderström who have already committed.
THREE WAYS TO RAMPAGEThere are three ways for fans to enjoy the action at Red Bull Rampage. A limited number of tickets will be available for spectators to see the event in person. Please check the Rampage site at the end of August for details.
Online, viewers can get inside the grit and determination it takes to participate in the event by watching the eight-part “Road to Rampage” series, dropping every Wednesday from August 28th-October 16th on Red Bull’s You Tube channel.
Finally, the family can gather around to tune-in to NBC on Saturday, December 21 at 2:30 pm ET to catch the broadcast of Red Bull Rampage presented by Casio G'zOne Commando 4G LTE and brought to you in partnership with Dodge Dart, GoPro, the Utah Sports Commission, Specialized and Oakley. The show airs as part of the Red Bull Signature Series, the most progressive action sports property in the world, featuring some of Red Bull’s top events including Crashed Ice, Ultra Natural, Wake Open Dreamline and Joyride. DESIGN THE ICONFor those who dream of riding the big drops, but are not on the exclusive invite list to compete, Oakley is inviting fans to play a role in designing the legendary centerpiece of the Red Bull Rampage freeride mountain bike course, the Oakley Icon Sender. Visit
www.oakley.com/renderthesender to access a designer’s tool kit, complete contest rules and submit an entry. One grand prize winner will receive an expenses paid trip to the 2013 Red Bull Rampage event in Utah for a chance to see the pros hit the feature inspired by their design. All concepts must be submitted by August 7, 2013 to be entered into the contest.
Don't mean to single out Pilgrim especially, but he's a clear example. Granted they did open a few spots to non-FMB type dudes in previous years, but there's a handful of other dudes I can think of that should be on course while some of the invited riders are voluntarily sitting out their runs.
the problem is not the bike because NSbikes has a DH bike now and even if they haven't one he could just use a NS Soda... Anthony Messere used one slope last year why not?
Here's the video they're talking about of that guy bringing his own ramp out to the canyon gap
Gee smashed it and was robbed as someone rode off a wooden ramp to manicured down slope for the win.
Followed by the best big mountain run ever the next year being robbed again as he did not hit the sponsors jumps.
The way gee hit the top section, the things he doubled, he was way to smooth and controlled, hit hit so many doubles that others would not dream of as they were not purpose built doubles. Last year they had to build a chicken lip to the bottom wall ride that only gee hit the man lip in a competition run.
Remember captain america..... Cedric, what a legend.
In all seriousness.... excited.com
Sam is one of the more "gnarly" riders there is...
who else takes one to the Face, Loses a Tooth, and is still grinning over 50ft backflips?
What about his ripping down the dh/fr track in japan's shines?
I am not a soppy eyed pilgrim fanboy, I just don't like young amateurs belittling the achievements of the great.
and after Tyler McCaul (i think it was McCaul) Crashed out on the canyon gap, you can hear him saying that that he couldn't do this crazy stuff, and he is made for rampage!
Even the best riders have their confidence damaged after a big fall.
Rampage two years in a row is #NotBad
(riders as pro as pilgrim don't usually have an obvious account name jaws, zink ect. sodds law it will actually be pilgrims new account!)
Aside from the fact that its a contradiction in terms...
"Two weeks ago you were a virgin and had balls the size of watermelons?!"
Stoked to see how the Rampage turns out this year and hopefully the judging is a little more on par this year.
just saved your ass! haha
PATIROTISM, the blinder the better
I haven't followed the tour this year, so maybe he's already won enough to claim the podium for the year even if he sits Rampage out. If that isn't the case though, and Sam wants to place well on tour, he needs this event, and that need might result in a darn good show for the fans.
Where is the exact location to the event? (a google map picture will work)
Wish truck or train could take us near the event?(from sandiego to UT)
Where we must buy the tickets for watching the rampage?
Il be really thankfull if someone help me
