Yeah dude, in my opinion for freeride especially single crown is the way to go : tail whips, bar spins, and x ups ect. Dual crowns better for speedy big travel
Awesome! I love this bike. I recently got one and finally hit stuff that I've been riding around and staring at for 2 years with ease.
I haven't seen much from Kurt lately, or not since Crankworx. He's one of my favorite riders and I frequently return to his last Rampage runs. I'd love to see him sending it on the newest Faith. Here's to hoping they have a good 2012 season. Cheers.
I have the reign x with a float 180, If you sit down and pedal up no problem, but if you stand up they're quite mushy, but short sprints are do- able get your chest over the bars, my buddy has the 2011 Faith and it pedals the same
Honestly, pumping uphill on the Faith is not fun, but it can be done. I find myself hiking up where I used to pedal with other bikes just so that I can have full focus and energy on the bigger stuff that Faith allows me to hit. The factory spec'd 2012 is 37lbs. With the High Rollers, it feels sluggish on flats, too. Point this thing down, though, and it's a plush and flowy high speed dream come true.
FWIW, the Norco is more slack than the Faith. So, interpret that how you will. Having traded in the new Reign X for the Faith, I'll add that the Reign X is a completely different bike. It's lighter with 11 more gears. I could sit and spin or sprint up things on the RX that completely wears me out now on the Faith. That's the trade off that I found, though, for a bike that can support my weight and send it verses a bike that can candle most lines, but not push the envelope.
As peyton mentioned the weight, my buddy's 2011 Faith 2 is 42 lbs and the truax 2 is around 38 lbs but the Faith 2 is a bit cheaper, I built a reign x with a float 180 rc2 dhx air 5 34lbs with pedals 66 ha..........Truax 65.5 ha Faith 66.3 ha
I love my 2010 Faith..!!!!
If you want to pedal up on it, you may want to add dual rings upfront. It's not an AM bike, but so many people act as if it should perform like one. As for the weight, i've got mine at approx. 35 lbs...
do you think a reign x would be able to handle whistlers dh runs? I am gonna be living in Edmonton pre soon, I hear they don't have ski lifts in jasper.
@WCCBiking- Based on my experience with the RX and it's stock air shock, I wouldn't be comfortable with it. If you switched the shock for a better air shock or a coil, then go for it. The stock DHX-Air couldn't support my weight at 215lbs on pretty minor stuff and I'm a fairly smooth rider. I'd hate to know how it would have handled true rocky downhill with sharp hits. Others will argue against me on that, but that's what I dealt with on mine.
Be like Ian Killick, if you don't like the faith (which he rode before as seen through videos) get the Reign SX a waaaay lighter version of the faith at 33 pounds!!!!! That's a steal
there' a contour video of Danny Hart doing A-Line on a reign x, and Andew Neethling beat Brian Lopes on a reign x on the A-line race at crankworks, but the Faith is definately built to take lots of abuse. I was talking to a young woman ( 5 foot nothin' ) on a small 2011 Faith 0 , she said it was fast and was hitting schlayer over and over - no problem !
The best part of all these tzouhalem videos is that they're ride all the trails right off the fireroad and miss the REALLY good ones.
Suckers.
And no I won't tell you where they are.
