This year we have big plans and are excited to offer our guests the most unique backcountry mountain biking experience in Canada. With Retallack’s professionally guided backcountry mountain packages, guests will be able to access winding single-track descents of up to 5,000 vertical feet via a combination of off-road vehicles and helicopters. Our network of trails is located in the Selkirk Mountains of the West Kootenays and are dispersed over an approximate area of 5,900 square kilometres (1,458,000 acres) – all waiting for your two-wheeled enjoyment. Luxury food and accommodation is provided at Retallack’s 11,000 sq ft lodge – located in the heart of the Selkirk Mountains, and is accessible by car approximately one hour north of Nelson, British Columbia, Canada.

Led by trail building legend Riley McIntosh, our trail builders are chomping at the bit to get at the trails as soon as the snow melts in order to create flow and function for mountain biking perfection. This season we will be offering more trails, more trips, more adventure, and even more of the Kootenay culture we are known for. New this season will also be the addition of a skills park and pumptrack right in front of our lodge, fine tunings to our famous heli-drop -‘Powerslave,’ a special ‘Girls Only’ trip, and the completion of a 4,000-foot descent straight to our front door.

We are also pleased to announce that each trip will have a special guest rider. The opportunity to ride with the world’s best is something that is both amazing to watch and tremendously beneficial to your own skills as a rider. So take the opportunity to count on our professional guides for safety and follow the wheel of a mountain bike hero down some of the very best trails in the mountain biking business.

The trails and terrain look sick! I hope Island Lake Lodge in Fernie begins this soon, I heard a rumor that they are working on plans to build some mountain bike trails and offer guided tours on them in the summer in the near future.
