Tom van Steenbergen
The man behind AT's Showdown with his bike and his course. This contest would not happen with out him and the help of the awesome crew he had on board.
Sorry for Partying
Sam Dueck hurt his wrist from casing one of the jumps in Friday's practice, hoping to ride today he took a nasty digger early on and called it quits.
Mike took a run today and was soon to destroy his bike in practice. Awaiting another, he'll be back tomorrow for best trick. Watch out.

Sooo... this already feels like a stupid question but... erm Casey Groves... Optical illusion or rear 29er wheel???? and if so WHY??!?!?!?!?
(Nov 11, 2012 at 0:56)
looks like lens distortion
(Nov 11, 2012 at 2:55)
Looks like 24 in the front
(Nov 11, 2012 at 6:37)
its in between distortion and the super low slung vimana. both are 26"
also "Mike took a run today and was soon to destroy his bike in practice" i sure hope that was a 1080 attempt, guess we have to wait for best trick
(Nov 11, 2012 at 7:54)
Casey is short so his wheels look big. LOL
(Nov 11, 2012 at 8:16)
its obviously 27.5...
(Nov 11, 2012 at 8:29)
Montgumery definatley has the sickest machine out there!
(Nov 11, 2012 at 12:47)
New Giant slope bike?
(Nov 11, 2012 at 14:14)
R-Dog's ride looks dialed!
(Nov 11, 2012 at 14:28)
no it doesn't matter whether it's distorted or not, a 29er wheel couldn't fit in that frame
(Nov 11, 2012 at 17:37)
Its because the frame is the new morphine... the frame makes the wheel look bigger than it is because of the style of frame
(Nov 11, 2012 at 20:29)
1. its a vimana 2. you copied exactly what i said just in a dumber context 3. give up
(Nov 11, 2012 at 2:57)
I don`t know how it rides, but that Harro looks bad (geometry wise) and everything-else-wise to be honest.
(Nov 11, 2012 at 8:04)
I agree about the frame geo and the awkward spec doesn't help much. Tonnes of spacers and flat bars in particular always look bad.
(Nov 11, 2012 at 8:57)
not only the geometry but its soo spindly. looks like the head tubes gonna snap
(Nov 11, 2012 at 12:05)
lot's of strange bikes here... but greg watts' haro just looks like a dog, i mean i wouldn't build a jump bike up like that yet he's factory rider and can't seem to put a nice one together?
(Nov 11, 2012 at 16:03)
Watts bike looks like the just "unbolted" the suspension off his Rampage bike and bolted on the HT rear end
They're the same color and everything... Still as "old" as it looks, I think it looks like nice straight steel HT. I agree though that it's kinda odd how a well known,
rider has had to deal with these kinda janky looking bikes.
(Nov 11, 2012 at 16:26)
most of the bikes here are small tube chromoly hard tails, why does watts look bad? his bike has saint and a fox 831 and easton wheels, when did that become janky?
when i saw visser's ellsworth i kind of threw up in my own mouth, i figured that bike would take all the heat for being a dog
(Nov 11, 2012 at 16:41)
Acually there's a LOT of Alu HT's, but I kind of agree. I only mean "janky" in comparison to everyone elses very flash bikes in the looks department. If you look at it by itself, it's a perfectly nice bike. I do wonder if Haro's ever going to bring out a new full-sus for him though. Completely agree bout the Ellsworth too
(Nov 12, 2012 at 8:26)
yeah, reece walleces chromag looks sweet though!
(Nov 12, 2012 at 9:40)
Why are you talk shit about Greg and his bike? It's just a little different than the others. I think that none of you haters could do half of the stuff Greg's doing on the new P.3 or any other bike..... just shut up.
(Nov 12, 2012 at 17:25)
@Mtb Harry: I agree, that Cromag frame looks tight.
@lehel-NS: Yeah the more I look at it alone, the more it looks like a perfectly fine bike. I think what some may be respinding to is how much it looks like his FS bke from Rampage down to the color and maybe even some of the sticker placement (it did to me anyways).
looks ancient and like it's gonna explode. His HT looks fine and I'd be happy to ride it personaly. Cody Gessel's frame looks equally "spindly" but it's STEEL, not ALu and that's just how steel frames look aye. They sure do ride a lot better then alu. HT's for every day and street riding IMO.
(Nov 13, 2012 at 6:29)
I think that Greg's bike looks really good and old school. And looks like that "outdated geo" does not bother him... he did a 360 sui barspin! You don't see that done every day.
There are too many fashion whores around these days.
(Nov 10, 2012 at 23:47)
***Tom van Steenbergen and Garrett Robertson
(Nov 10, 2012 at 23:33)
How old is Connor gallant?
(Nov 10, 2012 at 23:35)
10, and wow greg watts setup here sure looks a lot better than it did at rampage!
(Nov 11, 2012 at 0:12)
Dude Connor isn't 10, that's like grade 5 shit. I believe he is 13 or 14 now.
(Nov 11, 2012 at 11:53)
Ho my god! :O
(Nov 11, 2012 at 15:34)
(Nov 11, 2012 at 15:57)
The kids so small looking in that pic he makes his bike look like it's a 29R... Good on him for going out and taking it to those "older" guys aye, I hope he does well.
(Nov 12, 2012 at 11:09)
his name is connor gallart and hes 13 now...
(Nov 12, 2012 at 17:21)
Realize he didn't win, but I gotta give Connor props for being there taking a shot at age 13... Kids gonna be a star (or
of a star) if he keeps at it. I can imagine that the guys hes competing against are some great people to look up to and learn from aye. I grew up playing soccer at a very high level and often against older guys and there was always this animosity towards me for being young. I hope Connors not experiencing any of that (don't imagine he is) and can just enjoy riding and growing into a better and better rider as he get's older. Way to go Connor...
(Nov 13, 2012 at 18:01)
I was at UDUG this year and so was he, he was trying to teach me no foot cans haha i got a very small one eventually. Hes a pretty cool kid and can tear it up!
(Nov 11, 2012 at 7:48)
Yup thats not a Giant but a GT Distortion,,maybe he snapped his Giant in practice and T-Mac gave him a backup bike ?
(Nov 11, 2012 at 15:31)
Anthony Messere's frame looks very "interesting" in the rear axle/cs department (edit: Casey Groves looks to have the same frame)... That extension is crazy, I don't know how I'd like to be landing backflips on that or spins where you over-rotate. Looks like it's just rip the back wheel off. Clearly it works for him and I'm sure he's put it to the test like every other ike he's ever ridden, but it sure looks strange to me.
(Nov 11, 2012 at 1:44)
Greg Watts saddle is at some what of an old skool height. Nice to be different and use your knees for a bit of control and not follow fashion.
(Nov 11, 2012 at 2:56)
He's MTBs Nyquist
(Nov 11, 2012 at 6:35)
I want to see Mike's destroyed Specialized!!
(Nov 11, 2012 at 0:17)
hardtail, hardtail, hardtail, hardtail, nukeproof!
(Nov 11, 2012 at 19:17)
I think its interesting how many people are running Bontrager tires and Chromag Overture saddles. Anyone else notice the reverse arch on Mike's bike? Haven't seen that on a Spesh since the camo Shermans on Berrecloths P.3 wayyy back in the day. Making a come back?
(Nov 11, 2012 at 7:56)
Anthony Messere was killing it during semi's, i think he was a favorite among many yesterday, it was fun to watch him front flip onto the storage containers.
(Nov 11, 2012 at 20:31)
It blows my mind how Soderstrom can manage to lay down such sick tricks in those tight pants
(Nov 11, 2012 at 7:59)
Fogelquist's slopebike is just plain gorgeous
(Nov 11, 2012 at 15:32)
agreed. That Nukeproof is one good lookin Slope Bike aye.
(Dec 10, 2012 at 16:51)
fogel let me ride it in whisler...dialed bike, flipped it first run
(Dec 10, 2012 at 18:27)
That is tight... lucky bastard hahahahahahaha.
(Dec 11, 2012 at 15:52)
Yeah man hahaha
(Nov 11, 2012 at 2:36)
I have to say Tom Van Steenbergen's bike is my favourite one!
(Nov 11, 2012 at 15:49)
Agreed. His and Van Steenberg's are my fav's too.. Dead Sexy
bikes, but I think my old bones would prefer a Steel HT like Garrett Robertson's to actually ride.
(Nov 12, 2012 at 8:49)
Yeah that's nice too! Love how Van Steenbergen's bike is so colour coordinated, and has such clean lines, nice and simple! Plus the kashima fork, mmmm!
(Nov 12, 2012 at 18:48)
Oops, guess I wasn't to aware of what I was typing
Yeah, Van Steenbergens yellow with red color lay-out is just plain GORGEOUS aye... I love the red over the yellow frame, and the fact that it's CroMo is just icing on the cake too. I'd LOVE to have a rig that wel built/sorted. The Kashmina on the sliders just pushes it over the top looks wise too.
(Nov 11, 2012 at 11:48)
Martin söderström, chill mode activated
(Nov 10, 2012 at 23:50)
I'm totally a sucker for bright colored bikes..
(Nov 11, 2012 at 20:42)
Tom van Steenbergen BLT looks sooo sick! i want one so bad!
(Nov 12, 2012 at 12:13)
Lots of new names...cool!
(Nov 10, 2012 at 23:44)
Is the dude on the 16 hitting anything?
(Nov 11, 2012 at 9:09)
Thats Steven Bafus, and yes, but on his Deity Cryptkeeper
(Nov 11, 2012 at 20:26)
Damn, i was getting excited for nothing...
(Nov 11, 2012 at 17:35)
I thought that Reece Wallace rode for Trek?
(Nov 11, 2012 at 0:59)
sorry to say, mikes bike is the sexiest of them all.
(Nov 11, 2012 at 20:21)

(Nov 11, 2012 at 19:24)
(Nov 11, 2012 at 1:40)

(Nov 11, 2012 at 12:49)
Those bikes look big, and why the full suspensions? x
(Nov 11, 2012 at 6:31)
why does max Kauerts bike say giant on it but it is a gt distortion????
(Nov 11, 2012 at 3:01)
What is the bike of Max Kauert ? a Giant but a slop prototype ?
(Nov 11, 2012 at 5:43)
its a gt but he rides for giant and they dont make a slope bike so he put giant stickers on it.
(Nov 11, 2012 at 8:33)
could of get a trance or something...
(Nov 11, 2012 at 11:32)
i dont think so....
(Nov 11, 2012 at 13:01)
ya dude i read it somehwere, its t-macs old one
(Nov 11, 2012 at 13:16)
Yah dudes it's a trance!! Pfft. Get real. Maybe if you read the description you would know its tmac's old gt.. As we all know Giant does not make a slope bike.
(Nov 11, 2012 at 14:39)
yeah x-fusion doesn't make a dh fork, so all the x-fusion guys like t-mac ride boxxers with no decals its like that
(Nov 18, 2012 at 2:46)
I saw T-Mac rides Fury with FOX 40 on Rampage.
BTW, where is Kyle Strait?
(Nov 11, 2012 at 7:35)
Greg watts riding on a haro xc frame
(Nov 11, 2012 at 2:36)
Is Max Kauert running a proto giant?
(Nov 11, 2012 at 3:13)
Looks like a GT distortion.
(Nov 11, 2012 at 4:56)
yeah, it looks like a GT
(Nov 11, 2012 at 12:39)

(Nov 11, 2012 at 1:19)
James vissers' ellsworth is amazing
(Nov 11, 2012 at 14:41)
His fork looks like it's going to snap
I'm not sure why he is a pro using suntour stuff, even if he's sponsored by them
and what is with those seatstays and suspension system?
(Nov 11, 2012 at 15:28)
Or just plain ugly like all Ellsworths... yeah, I'm gong with butt ugly.
(Nov 11, 2012 at 13:41)
