The RockShox Money Shot™ went live yesterday at Whistler Bike Park, as industry icon Sterling Lorence hit the mountain and photographed riders on the Heart of Darkness trail all day long.

If you got shot today, go to the RockShox page on Facebook to claim your photo. To get it, “Like” RockShox, click on the “Photos” icon, find your shot in the “Heart of Darkness” album, then tag it to show the world your steez.

Sterl will be back in action today and tomorrow, so if you haven’t got your Money Shot yet, stop by the RockShox Facebook page or the RockShox tent in the Village in the morning to see what trail he’ll be at. Hit it hard and you could end up with a nug like these:

From a young man eager about photography, how are photos like the top one achieved?

Was trying to work that out myself! I'm guessing that it's either two remote flashes with colour gels on or uncovered flashes with colours changed in post processing. I might try that flash with gels and see if it works...

Looks like 2 rim lights and possibly a Key light All with CTO (Color temp. orange) gels. He is under exposing the background to draw your attention to the rider. I would recommend shooting with just ambient light until you truly understand it before you get into strobes. just my two cents

From what I saw on Facebook, the watermark is still in the corner.

Take a few days and read through the entire Strobist blog strobist.blogspot.com/2006/03/lighting-101.html and you could get pretty close to shooting something like this gelled cross light look. He's probably using big studio strobes with radio poppers to pump that light in full on day time. Awesome effect.

Killer lighting setup on these shots, must have been kicking some power out on the overhead rig
