(Apr 29, 2012 at 17:08)
I'm not super familiar with this race - how prestigious is it/how big of a deal is it to podium at an event like this? All the talented riders are there but are they gunning 100% for the W or is this a good way to stay sharp?
(Apr 29, 2012 at 17:26)
fucking yes RATBOYYYY !!!! massive well done to steve smith aswell thats mint!
(Apr 29, 2012 at 17:46)
Nice Job Steve.
(Apr 29, 2012 at 17:52)
Can't wait to see stevie rip it up at val di sol, hope he stays on the bike and injury free, though.
(Apr 29, 2012 at 18:54)
Everyone knock on wood after that comment!
(Apr 29, 2012 at 20:20)
It is a Pro GRT, which means there are more than locals going for points, it is a stepping stone to doing World Cups, it is the US series to prepare for WC's. So the top guys don't really care about the points and don't make it to all of them, but they certainly aren't happy with 2nd. So to answer your question the talent is there and it is fierce, but they probably won't hang it all out there like they would for a WC, but still hella fast! Thanks to all the PRO's for visiting the NW!!!
(Apr 29, 2012 at 21:03)
right on Stevie. That podium spot suits you. World class, man, world class.
(Apr 29, 2012 at 21:36)
(Apr 29, 2012 at 21:43)
Good job Stevie! Lets hope for the same thing at Val di sol.
(Apr 29, 2012 at 22:21)

Mikey Sylvestri's up with the big guys again, why is he not racing World Cups yet?!
(Apr 29, 2012 at 20:30)
Great job, Mikey! He deserves a shot at the World Cup for sure. He beat some very fast guys this time.
(Apr 30, 2012 at 12:40)
Stoked for Sylvestri!
(Apr 30, 2012 at 22:01)
Mikey killed it last year as well....you guys should check the video by Gunnar of the course. MIkey is a straight up vampire killer!
(May 1, 2012 at 14:24)
That was great. He killed it last year too -- literally -- but this year the field was even tougher.
(May 6, 2012 at 21:00)
It's amazing dude. When I started racing dry hill 12 years ago, if 30 guys showed up, it was a good turnout. Now it's more like 500 riders, and 100 deep pro. Times have changed for sure.
(Apr 29, 2012 at 16:19)
Sweet!!! Smith way to be
(Apr 29, 2012 at 16:46)
2 seconds up on Gwin as well, good job Stevie.

(Apr 29, 2012 at 19:15)

Stevie is american, Canada is in America . USA is in America Big congrats Stevie!!!!!!!!
(Apr 30, 2012 at 21:56)
steve smith is a canadian. he lives in Nanaimo. Maybe the kid has a dual citizenship, but I have ridden w/ him up north, and as I recall...he's a canuck.
(May 2, 2012 at 10:40)
what I mean is that "americans" are all of us being born in the american continent, not only the ones born in the USA.
I know Stevie is from Nanaimo, one of the most beautiful places in the planet, have been there and ridden there my xc bike.
(May 2, 2012 at 12:00)
I know what you meant. The continent of North America. However, I was referring to the country of America. As in, U.S. of A.
At least Jill took one home for us, and the duo of BET/Jerry were there to rock the flag as never before! USA! USA!
And sponsel, don't you respond with the 'We did that first BS, I am already on the kill list and don't care. Yes, you, haderer and Looch started the whole USA cheer section thing. But that doesn't mean Brian, Jerry and their ghetto blasters can't keep the tradition alive.
Love this guy. 'Merica!

What bike was Steve on for this win? Anyone know.
(Apr 29, 2012 at 20:22)
Look at the results, he is sponsored by Devinci, so a Wilson.
(Apr 30, 2012 at 11:11)
I had heard he was possibly riding something smaller then the wilson. Can't tell from the picture. I know its a Devinci, I'm not a dumbass, give me some credit will yah!
