With 595 metres (1,954’) of chairlift accessed vertical, 36 distinct trails that range from technical DH and flowing machine-made, to scenic all-mountain and expansive cross country, the Sun Peaks Bike Park has something for everyone.
The Park continues to evolve much like the bikes and riders that visit each summer. New for 2012, the Big Rock Ride accesses the summit of Sundance Mountain and the entire cross country network, even invading Mt. Morrisey. This summer will also see the introduction of the new Altitude Trail, taking riders to the high alpine of the “Top of the World”, with plenty of options for the 825 (2,707’) metre descent back to the village below. Plus, now you can keep riding even after the chairs stop turning for the day with a short pedal from the base of the lift to a brand new pump track and skills area!
Despite a couple June powder days on the upper reaches of the mountain, the Park is looking great and it’s sure to be a super tacky season out there. The dedicated trail crew of returning shredders know the trails better than anyone and have been working hard through a wet spring to get them buffed. You’ll notice loads more flow on the rooty and rocky singletrack, some rerouting to keep you fully pinned on some of the gnarlier DH tracks, big ‘ol berms built-up on freeride trails to rail those high lines, and access to all three commanding peaks surrounding the Sun Peaks valley for some outstanding views.
August 6-10 is our Freeride Camps. Back by popular demand, our wildly successful freeride camps are coached by some of BC's top riders and will immerse participants in all aspects of freeriding, in our legendary Bike Park.
Our coaches have been riding a long time and know it's all about having fun on the trails, so skill development is well balanced with positive encouragement and plenty of high fives! They'll provide campers with the skills and confidence to tackle single track, berms, jumps, steeps, and whatever else the mountain might throw their way. Campers will also learn bike setup and maintenance to ensure that their bikes are properly tuned and safe to hit the trails.
Students are broken up into groups based on riding ability and the camper to coach ratio is no greater than 6:1, to ensure everyone gets the best instruction and safest care possible.
If you’ve never experienced a day on the trails in the legendary Sun Peaks Bike Park, you really have no idea what you’re missing. If you have, ‘nuff said, we’ll see you again this summer. Get Real. Gnarly. Sun Peaks Bike Park – Yeah Bro!

Gravity isn't an object that travels with a certain velocity so technically comparing anything to the "speed" of gravity is nonsensical, like saying that Silvia is lying about not speeding up this footage. You're all insane.
Gravity is a natural force of attraction between two bodies which is directly proportional to their mass. The speed at which Silvia can travel cannot be measured in terms of gravitational force (although it is a part of the equation). Speed is a calculated measurement of distance traveled vs time.
I have never face-palmed harder in my life, you should all be shamed
The whole gravity thing bears no relation to whether the footage is sped up (it is btw), and you could easily find out if the bikes in the video are falling at a speed greater than the speed produced by the force of gravity upon them. And they are.
Oh and minty1, I just dropped a stapler and caught it before it hit the ground, it's really very easy.
People often mislabel my Session as a bmx bike
Don't be a f*cking retard man. Don't go saying DH is more accessible to people because thats bullshit. Unless of course those people live in mountain villages. I live in a town in northern Germany. To get to the nearest mountains (not even suitable for a WC track) I gotta spent 100 euros on trains/bus and 3-4 hours in travel time. The local bmx track is just 15 min away. Hold the olympics in whistler and then we have something to talk about
Effective run on sentence is effective....
2. World Cup downhill tracks in England. The only track they use for World Cup events in the U.K is Fort William. That's 825km away from London. A fair distance to travel for athletes who are based out of London.
3. Just because there are zero tracks where you live, doesn't mean you represent the world. When I said accessibility I wasn't talking about the general public going out and actually racing BMX. I was talking about event organisers building a track in a central location that was easy to get to for the general public. Heck, how many people actually do any of the events that are in the Olympics? Probably next to nothing, but people still enjoy watching them. Just because it is easier to jump on a mountain bike and more people participate in it, doesn't mean it should be in the Olympics. How many people do you know actively participate in Artistic synchronised swimming? Not many I would think. Should we switch that out for who can slide down a waterslide faster? Because that is something everyone can relate too.
Also, STRIPPED was such a creative approach, I wish more of the big production companies would have 2 different approaches. 1) Bike Promo-style vids 2) Purely creative abstract approach (Shawn of the Dead) styli
Here is their comment....
"Silviafilms (2 days ago)
We shot this on a 7d and its shutter speed is a lot faster then a gopro or contour. Every shot is 100% real speed, no sped up footage."
"The branch of linguistics and logic concerned with meaning."
"The meaning of a word, phrase, sentence, or tex: (Heres the ironic example) "such quibbling over semantics may seem petty stuff"."
just a thought
I don't think we should write off the possibilities before we've even attempted to run a few uplifts from Chris Hoy's legs.
About the money, I'll just repost something I wrote a few weeks ago:
Chairlifts are extremely expensive and complex to install and run. Not only would somewhere doing that have to get a lot of investment capital but they would have to guarantee a full season of constant ticket sales every year, not to mention the years of planing prior to construction. In 2011 a Doppelmyer detatchable (what they use in Whistler among other places) was around $12million+ just to install. You can double that with planning and track setup for a higher volume of riders. Then constant staffing (operators, maintenance etc). For most places it does cost the world for a car park and chairlift, hence Innerleithen will never have a chance to get one.
Let me put it this way, Whistler breaks even/makes a loss in the summer.
What's next: NO SHOES???
