Post Four from the Taipei Cycle Show ...
There are going to be a lot of pictures in this post. And they uploaded in a strange order and it was a pain trying to get them organized. If you stay until the end there are some actual riding pictures from a jump jam held in Taichung the day after the show.
Lots of pics inside,
There are going to be a lot of pictures in this post. And they uploaded in a strange order and it was a pain trying to get them organized. If you stay until the end there are some actual riding pictures from a jump jam held in Taichung the day after the show.
Lots of pics inside,
I am going to start with something that I thought was pretty cool. This bike is the IF Mode. It is a folding city bike. A bike enthusiast made a working model of this bike. It is to scale and it folds in the same way. He made the model from pictures in magazines and on the internet. He did not have an actual bike to make it from. I spoke to the engineer responsible for the Mode and he said it is pretty much a miniature version of the Mode.
The perfect opening line at a bike show is "I am taking pictures for a blog post on pinkbike.com." Marketing directors, Engineers and Owners of companies will pretty much hand product to perfect strangers if they know it will be on pinkbike. Try it at the next show you go to ... (Editor's note - we don't recommend this.)
Hayes Marketing Manager Len Cabaltera was more than happy to hand over the new Hayes Prime Brakes on the first day of the show and when I walked past searching for something to shoot he went into the back of his booth and brought out all of the Sun wheels for this year.
Once I had pictures of the Sun rims I decided to take pictures of different wheels. I had met the guys from CrankBrothers the day before and decided I would see how far they would let me go with their wheels. They were smart enough to have one of their Taiwanese sales associates watch over me. She was rather attractive, so I did not mind ...
I went from there to taking pictures of random wheels.
The day after the show I took the train south to Taichung. Some industry types showed up and we all had great time.
Me and the Banshee Legend will be at the Banshee booth at Sea Otter. Stop by and say hello.
Keep Riding,
Rob Dunnet

Beautiful rims! Wish i was there to ride that dirt! Anyone know where to bu those sick Crankbrothers rims at?
If your talking about the Iodines or the Cobalts then you havent been to Crank Brothers website. Or your local bike shop ...
Show me where on the Crank Bro's site you can buy individual rims? As far as I am awear you can only purchase wheelsets. Do they not also have a policy where you have to send back the old rim to get a new replacement so that the individual rims dont start cropping up on 2nd hand market?
"pretty sick wheelsets" the word was WHEELSETS and then underlaid with the laymans term of "rims". Go ahead and negative prop me for actually reading the entire succession of conversation..., its cool.
pavementEATER, what the hell are you talking about? Rims are rims, wheelsets comprise of rims, spokes, nipples and hubs. There are no 'laymans' terms. And like I say, you can only buy the CB wheelsets as... well... a wheelset! I dont understand what you are getting argumentative about here? Your getting negative propped because you are making no sense whatsoever, not for 'reading the entire succession of conversation'.
The reference to "Iodine" and "Cobalt" pretty much sums up that I KNOW they only come in wheelsets, since thats the name of the wheelset...English must be a second language to you.
right so where on the CB website can you buy the rims? here's a link to their shop part of the site http://cart.crankbrothers.com/wheelsets.html?limit=all can only buy WHEELSETS!! you haven't made any sense what so ever over this, stop trying to be a smart tw*t assuming you know everything about wheelsets, Your english must be a second language too then
Atleast you have the correct description in your name retard....I have referenced wheelsets this entire time ... hmmmm ... what was the word??? oh yeah, quit being a "twat"
low, light and fast! when you think about it, the evolution of banshee has really been an indicator of frame design trends.

Man, some of those hubs have small flanges. Compare to the American Classic hubs that are amazingly light but they manage to have big flanges - I guess the direct-pull spokes all need some meat to thread into so they have to keep the flange as small as possible to save weight.
Is it a sad reflection on us consumers that manufacturers have two different sized flanges so that we will buy 'their' hub/wheel versus someone else's because it weighs 8 grams less? Shame on us...

Notice the lacing of the wheel (white SunRingle rim) in the pic 5th from the top? The spokes from the left holes in the rim are laced the right flange of the hub, and vice versa. Is this recommended?
