Yeah, how the hell did he make that roost? It was either somebody else or it was one of them time-delayed roosts. That'd be nice so that you can actually see the roost that you create.
The 3rd photo to this day is still one of the most epic pictures taken and posted on pb. massive explosion/roost, epic facial expression, and rocking a ht like a boss.
I believe picture 3 is actually a man made explosion for that video- this shot, If I can remember, was not timed right and was turned into a mockery by the riders and kept it for laughs. Great video! Where to find it?
you do realize a dirtbike is a mountain bike with a motor right? sometimes other shit comes up, just cause were on a bike site doesnt mean we have to be on topic 100% of the time...
Can someone clarify I looked up 'roosts' on the dictionary of mountain biking it says: to stop or accelerate very quickly??? to me it looks like its the explosion of dirt left behind when a biker DESTROYS A TRAIL or BERM !!! which can be accomplished by whipping out the back tier and letting it catch some dirt or by drifting upon entering a turn. lol!
roosts are usually riding thru a turn while spraying up dirt. skids are the same but with brake usage. powerslides are sliding with both tires thru a turn with both feet on the pedals. usually achieved by flicking/whipping the bike. shralps are same thing but leaning way farther and maybe with a foot off, but not using brakes.
Roosting comes from the world of motocross, and it refers to leaving a "rooster tail," which is when, upon acceleration, the rear tire kicks up a spray of dirt. As you can tell from the pics, above, in the world of mtb, roosting typically occurs from sliding in corners, but it can also occur from landing hard or even just riding fast in a straight line through a dust patch or mud or snow or whatever.
Cool guys don't look at explosions... That's all I could think of as I scrolled down the page. Apparently its not true though. Half the people were looking at their own explosions. Shame on you, not cool.
Third one is awesome. dude looks like he doin nothin more than a cruise through the park aaaaand then you look behind him and BAAAAAM complete explosion!
"Skidding" is fun but nothing is quite like the feeling of drifting without the use of brakes and hearing the dirt and rocks spray out over the trail behind you.
