Young, unconventional, creative and talented: four characteristics that perfectly describe the slopestyle & dirt riders Thomas Genon and Anton Thelander. This spirit, but also their standing and know-how in the sport were the main reasons for Canyon to get the two athletes on board. A win-win situation for both sides: Thomas and Anton have a professional and respected partner to support them and at the same time they push forward developments in the gravity sector of the German bike brand.

Thomas Genon and Anton Thelander belong to the young generation of freeriders who have focused on dirt and slopestyle for a number of years. Their high spirits and aspirations provide a fresh impetus to the world of freeriding. The incredible potential of 19-year-old Thomas is obvious: Last season, the Belgian awed the bike community with his victory at the Red Bull Joyride in Whistler. By the end of the FMB World Tour 2012 season Thomas was ranked 3rd overall – an incredible achievement for such a young rider. At Nine Knights 2012, the Swedish rookie Anton Thelander impressed fellow professionals as well as experienced judges with his performance and won the "ruler of the week" award. For both athletes the partnership with Canyon is another important milestone in their young career.

Canyon founder and CEO Roman Arnold is thrilled with the two athletes: "With their positive attitude, Thomas and Anton convey their enthusiasm for the sport. And that is what Canyon also stands for: Pure Cycling. Together with the two guys we want to share this passion and build bikes that meet the highest demands and at the same time are just fun.” Professional cycling is an important part of Canyon. The Koblenz manufacturer cooperates with the world's best cyclists in order to continuously improve their bikes year upon year.

These young riders could not be happier to go on such a journey with Canyon. Thomas is eager to get started: "I'm happy to work together with such a big brand like Canyon. Roman, the R&D team, Anton and I have sat together and have discussed our goals. Together, we want to build a really cool bike – not only for us but also for our fans. So stay tuned for what is coming up this season!"

To get to know their new partner better, in mid-January Thomas and Anton visited Canyon headquarters in Koblenz. There, they had the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of Canyon and take a look behind the scenes.

Glad to see him wearing a redbull hat. The top comment on every joyride post last year seemed to be, he'll be wearing a redbull hat in a couple days. This is the first thing I've really seen on him since. Glad to see it came true. Congrats Thomas.

You forgot the fact that this design has been up since..... last 15-20 years? And yeah, with so many brands bikes tend to look like some others you know. But since they all differ in geometry, riding is different so yeah, get over it.

Amazing how boring press release can be! Please for the next one, don't try to be unconventional cool or refreshing. Stay in that boooooooooooring tone! But good luck to both guys anyway.

I wondered about that too. What are Thomas and Anton supposed to ride for DJ and SS? Will there be prototypes very soon? If so, why not announce that now?

i'm sure it won't be long until they release a killer DJ or SS bike, a friend of mine rides a canyon torque and they make really nice bikes

They're examining a hardtail in one of the pictures- if they can make a DH rig they can build a DJ hardtail. I'm pretty sure I could if you gave me some scaffold and a welder ;-)

Good for Genom, I'd consider sucking a cock to get sponsored by RB- actually no I wouldn't- but you get the point.
