Tyler McCaul - Bike Check

by Jordan Holmes
Dec 2, 2009

Recently signing with suspension manufacturer X-Fusion Shox, Aptos' local Tyler McCaul continues to make a name for himself. Riding under GT Bicycles, Tyler McCaul, brother of Cam, has been putting in his time. Before injuring himself at Whistler Crankworx, Tyler was killing it, with some good racing results, and some good slopestyle results too. Whistler put a beating on Tyler, however, he's healed up and back up to speed.

The Aptos area doesn't see too much rain. The most moisture I saw in 4 days there was the dew on the dirt jumps burning off each morning, meaning the local riders ride as much as they possibly can. This would obviously allow you to grind out some great tricks during the "off season", while everyone else in other areas are enjoying the snow season. During Tyler's time off he has been looking at new tricks, new sponsors, and a new style. Now that Tyler is back on his bike his riding style and trick bag has been refined and looks great for 2010.

For 2010 Tyler is looking for good results all around, on the downhill side of things, and on the Slopestyle competition side of things. Once again for 2010 Tyler is part of the GT team, and has recently signed with X-Fusion Suspension. X-Fusion is an up and coming suspension brand that have constructed some light weight, and functional forks and rear shocks. Not only that, but they have compiled a small roster of riders who are ready to kill it!

Tyler has been working on getting his trick bag larger, working on big time tricks like bike flips! With the pool jump in the backyard, Tyler and Cam have all the necessary tools to learn, dial in, and perfect new tricks. Recently Tyler went on a trip to Mexico with brother Cam, to do some scouting for a movie feature for the future. I am interested to see the footage that will come out of Mexico.

I'm excited to see what Tyler has for us in 2010. He's got a great lineup of sponsors, a perfect location to learn and perfect his tricks, and the drive to get it done. Keep an eye out for Tyler McCaul in 2010, he's going to kill it!

Sweet graphics on the frame. But does he use the guide to tension the chain, even with the half-links?
