Just after the first world cup in Lourdes, the team hopped on a plane and were off to Monterey, California for the Sea Otter Classic. Missing this event last year because of it being at the same time as a world cup event, the team were happy to be back under the Californian sun and pumped to race the Dual Slalom and the Downhill.
After winning all his rounds Andrew would end up in the Semi finals against Martin Maes, but couldn’t beat him. Martin would end the day on the top spot in the Dual Slalom. Andrew went up against Bernard Kerr in a battle for 3rd place, he fought as hard as he could, but it wasn’t enough and Andrew took a great 4th place on the podium.
After that physical day everyone's legs were tired, but Sunday was time for the Downhill. What this track lacks of technical sections, it makes up for in jumps and you've always got to be on the pedals, making it a hard 2 minute sprint.
Mick had a good run, but his hand was still swollen from his crash at Lourdes and finished the day in 8th. Andrew finished 25th and Fabien 37th.
