Why would any camera make this course look any faster? Put it on a fast rider and it's going to look fast. Put it on me, it's going to look slow. Camera has nothing to do with it.
its mainly to do with how the camera is set up tbh. GoPros come by default to be more wide angle and so look faster. Then the blurry / jerky is the frame rate / resolution selection. I know that they both are roughly 1080p @ 30fps or 720p @ 60fps. whilst 30fps is fine for stuff like paragliding and wingsuit flying, action sports really need the extra fps. Then theres also battery / memory saving to bring it down even lower, so i wonder as to why the brought them down? maybe so that they could record more footage to analyse later in the evening?
@lacykemp of course you`re right, but I just wanted to say, that just the the gopro wide angle at F5 gives you a faster feeling (because passing trees looks faster...). Riding with GoPro won`t change the time But I think we all know, we often feel way faster than we actually are and so do I looking GoPro videos!
Super intense course, can't wait to watch the race! Also, I saw another course cam that has no music and the rider (Jack Reading) commentates whole way down and you can hear how physically demanding it is from his breathing etc, here's the link if anyone wants it: vimeo.com/43266977
Talking through a run seems like a really good way to help yourself memorize the course, especially if you watch the playback over and over. I think i'm going to try that.
He's one of my favorite riders actually, if you want to check him out more he has a decently interesting blog that he updates with info on each race and what not. Idk, it's sort of interesting to see it from a riders perspective, especially one without huge factory support and mechanics and stuff. www.jackreading.com
am i the only one that thinks the camera quality is questionable at best? all the "rock gardens" look like flat dirt in most of these. lack of focus, so much blur, impossible to see the course.
What i've seen so far this year he's been getting good results considering how tough the competition is. Shame about the injury, was looking forward to seeing his run this weekend.
