The sun sets over another setup week here in Valparaiso, Chile. Parties and sunburns are the order of the day until Sunday, then it's all business. |
What else is there to do while the course is built? Shred some Chilean dirt high above the city. |
This year they decided to go wired for the timing system. Great idea, right? Well on this track, that means running over 3km of cable through city streets. A city where everything and anything not locked down will probably disappear over night. |

Wall ride coming together. A few riders are getting nervous at this one, the gap is BIG. |
As I keep being reminded; There's the right way, the wrong way, and the Chilean way. Yes, those are precariously balanced on his car while he drives up and down some of the steepest streetsI have ever been on, through absolutely insane traffic. |

Lots of poles and street signs means lots of padding. Ingenious ideas are everywhere in this country. Cast off foam mattress extras are wrapped in shrink wrap and work great. |
The views really never get old here. This is from the start line. |
Running that timing cable high enough to keep it from being stolen is a mission. |
More city sights. |

Katherine Short of Canada and Marcelo Guttierez of Colombia take a quick look at the mega stair section while tourists get in the way. |

Hmm. What's this? |
