You have to take a min or two to really check angles for a perfect head cam shot imo. lol I never blame racers, freeriders, or managers for off angle gopro shots. There's more important things going on!
All I'm saying is that if your company is going to provide a course preview, you damn well better dial in the angle. KHS should've stuck to what they know and thrown their name on someone else's video. Sorry, had to say it.
Yeah amazed to see him back on the bike so soon.
Not so amazed by this course, I know it's been said before and I'll get negged but this course is poor and I dunno why it gets so much coverage on here.
It gets coverage because Aaron Gwin, Marc Beaumont, Gee Atherton, Mik Hannah, Sam Blenkinsop, Steve Peat, Niko Mullaly, Mitch Ropelato, Logan Binggeli and many, many more go out there to race. If you've never seen the courses, some of them get very very steep with a large amount of chunk. The courses are short, and it is ghetto, but if big names keep showing up, it'll still get big coverage.
To name a few more: Shaun Palmer, Wil White, Brian Lopes. I've seen JD Swanguen, Nathan Rennie, Chris Kovarik race here, Melissa Buhl, Eric Carter, Rich Houseman. Seen Cam McCaul spectating. And there have been some bad accidents here. Its the only DH series in SoCal I know of. Not sure if Rim Nordic has one. Maybe this year Big Bear will?
Good justification of the coverage the race gets guys, it only leads my mind to the question that why are so many racers attracted to ride/race it?
I can only assume that a lot of the bike companies have their HQs based not too far away and a lot of non US racers spend (or used to spend) their off season training in sunny SoCal. Either way, point taken. It must be cool to live nearby and have so many big names come race here.
also for many of us, these are the closest races that go on, and yeah some times the courses are meh but the atmosphere is cool and you get to spend a weekend biking with the bro's. just my two cents
Ya use the white thing or cut up electrical tape into strips small enough to go on the mount, to make the two peices of the mounts fit tighter, preventing it from being lose
No one is saying 29ers are not capable. On a real downhill track trail bikes of any wheel size will not beat DH bikes down it. A trail bike will never win at Fort William, Val di Sole, Mont St Anne, etc. If I had the money my enduro race bike would be a 29er.
Anyone else tilting their heads back trying to get the camera angle right. I could not make myself stop. Amazing Logan is back up and riding. What's up with Soderstrom and Rhedder?
Yeah three months off after a broken femur, that is unreal! I guess the Pinkbike community healing vibes got to Logan.
Brett Rheeder is riding hard again, as for Martin I don't know.
I can't believe logan is back and racing already. Mutant healing indeed.
Oh, and Fontana courses are typically 2:00-2:30 including the long pedal section we lovingly refer to as "the wall" which is not a metaphorical wall, but a real wall separating homes from the trail. It's a 250 yard flat sprint along that wall.
What Logan is back riding already?! Way to go dude! I'm just beginning to walk around after 12 weeks. Wanna send me some of your femur healing powers?! haha
Did my 1st downhill race since 1999, I enjoyed it. Saw more crashes than I see at a motocross race which is what do every weekend: it was a good course, the whole point is to race to the bottom as fast as you can not crash and have fun! Which I did
I miss Fontana sooo bad. Sucks that I moved and now I'm 3000 miles away but at least I got mountain Creek Bike Park to make up for the loss. Have fun tomorrow guys.
femurs take much longer than 2.5 months to heal, the bone is far from even being filled. one small fall and logan is seriously fucked and risks lifetime permanent damage. not smart at all to riding like that. be careful bud
Yep, i'll be taking it easy for the whole 2014 season. In my case, I shattered it into a few places and have had more complications. It's rad to see him back already though, hopefully he stays safe! He must have had a clean break because that's healed very quickly if he's back on the bike already.
I broke my femur and have a full rod in there now. I was back and riding xc in 3 months which my docs were not happy about but I was not shredding dh til about 6-7 months. I'm not talking negatively about Logan in any way I just don't want to see him get reinjured bc he wasnt properly recoverd.
Yeah, it was about half of a full run. After you cross the road there's the real fun part, the wall. Most people hate it but I thought it was kinda fun.
Funny you say that, a guy once told me " I got something you can kiss. If I was in better shape it would be no problem, but I'm not in real good shape. Fat people and hills don't mix to well."
Stop following me. The wall is a different story It's somewhat flat-ish and I can pedal down it or just unweight the front and coast down it. I just hate walking up the road all day. Gets boring after the third time or forth time.
Haha sorry I just replied to a bunch of comments at once and remembered the username. Ya the road is boring but I didn't want to wait in the shuttle line, so i pedaled up really slowly in front of the vans
If my bike had a lower gear or my legs were stronger I'd have pedaled up too. One of the van drivers just didn't care at all. He hit the speed bumps in the parking lot so fast I almost bounced my head off the roof. It's interesting sitting in the back of the van, speed bumps are like 10x worse.

"he shouldn't have turn right" TP
