True, though bit strange that he's talking about how he rides big mountain and open slopes with loads of options while in the video he's riding a fairly standard forest DH track with essentially one line.
Nevermind! But wasn´t that the point that you can ride even such a standard forest DH track in so many different ways? Lines, Speed, Jumps, and so on??
he is in pemebrton, long tracks, big mountain by scottish standards... but all prescribed ready built (albeit mainly natural) trails, with you on this one redrook. video not big mountain riding
forkbrayker, I know Pemby, used to live out that way. If he were out in the Kamloops direction doing loose slopes (or stuff like the peak section in From the Inside Out) then I would say big mountain, but the riding in this vid is similar to most DH vids from BC. Can't argue with Hopkin's style though, generally you do see him doing big mountain (his Kranked 7 part is one of my fav sections). Don't get me wrong, this vid still kicks ass.
redrook- he's describing the type of riding that he mostly does. That doesn't mean that he thinks the trail he's riding on for the short promo is actually big mountain. Its an interview/profile, not a what-are-you-doing-right-now edit...
Those trails look like an insanely fun time... lucky bastard.
yeah the old norcos had a defualt in the manifacturing of the aluminium, which led to a much more brittle frame, one of my friends had the same problem. but the fixed that and now have some awesome bikes to show, and im not going to hold a grudge for a problem that wasnt really them, it was the manifacturer of the aluminum's fault.
^^ plus they had their recalls issued very quickly, and they will warranty these frames even if you purchased them second hand... it was mostly the 08's that were affected...
scott-townes - yeah I know, thats why if you read my comment i said it was strange to hear him talk about that while the riding being shown is completely different. Like having a metal soundtrack to a nature documentary. I didn't say anything bad about the video, in fact I clearly said I liked it.
Save your breath redrook the minute anyone has an opinion that isnt "omg I love this!!!" they get neg propped. I noticed that wasn't Hopkin's usual style in the vid too. Most kids on here are too young to remember things like Kranked 7.
cheeselord- Kranked 7 is hardly old so why are you so proud of remembering it?
redrook- Its a short interview piece. Usually when you do those, you film whatever riding you have available to you at the moment. Its not worth it to go out and spend a whole week traveling and filming just for a short sponsorship bio... and I doubt TNF wanted to spend the money to buy shots from filmers in order to show him riding big mountain when we all know that he does. I don't see why that's an issue with you? Who cares? This must be the first time this has happened in any action sport, ever!
townes I think he was saying that most people on here are so young and ignorant that they don't know about kranked 7, then come flying in with their opinions.
I realise it's a short interview piece, again please read my comments before being aggressive and assuming there's a problem. I made it quite clear that I thought it was a bit odd but still thought the video was awesome. Stop perpetuating the low level of conversation that happens on this site. Cheers.
Exactly, I don't read anywhere that I said I was proud, don't put words in my mouth. Don't be so quick to drop the gloves. Love the insight you have into the industry btw lol
redrook- I don't see anywhere where his comment applies to anyone and yeah when you use the "I bet they don't even remember watching..." point, you're complimenting yourself unnecessarily hard... while using a relatively newer movie at at. But I do love how he says to not put words in his mouth but a sentence later he does the same thing regarding my post... screw it, this has received way more attention than it needs.
That video was tight, Hopkins rips and maybe in the next little sponsor bio they put out, they won't have him talk about anything but what he's doing in the edit in order to not confuse you guys.
Oh scott, you take things so seriously. Go be agressive to people on youtube or somewhere. And he doesn't put words in your mouth. You really need to read comments before replying, I didn't say "bet the don't even remember watching" anywhere. You've taken a small comment that wasn't meant to be taken seriously way too far, I think you need a hobby (maybe try mtb )
yeah, bike frames are designed to only allow the drive train to be on the right side, its not really posible to swap it on mountain gear unless you go fully custom.
Mike is my favorite rider by far. He lives in my home town and I see him when he is not traveling he is a super nice and humble guy. Or in other words YEAH BUDDY!
i liked how his section in 'From the inside out' emphasized his flow, and his part in 'Brighter' seemed to convey his outright nutty speeds really well...
