that what it sounded like he said abzilla , he said some thing like " wining world champs would be a a great way to end my career "

Maybe if people actually listened to what greg said they wouldn't be neg bombing you...

 Great piece guys, really great

aaoliver what's homo about your comment dude? Minnaar does rule. 31 and still killing it. Rooting for Stevie of course, but Minnaar won it with a flat! That's the definition of bad ass!

bakenbikin I'm just sayin'... If I was a boy dude (I'm a chick) I would totally go homo on Greg. BUT... since I'm a girl I can just go straight up hetero crazy for him. Was rooting for Stevie too, for sure... But all around lots of bad ass going on!

More stuff like this please. Nerding on bike tech is great (or mostly digesting marketing blurbs), but there is more to cycling then that. Trail building, people, how to, back ground, lifestyle..

 I second this!

I HATE WHEN THEY ANNOUNCE WINNERS OF RACES IN THE HEADLINES!! I haven't watched the race yet. Damn it.

If you don't want to know the result of the biggest dh race in the world, don't go on the biggest mountain bike website in the world, it's as simple as that..

If he really is retiring (I hope not), he'd better do a CG and continue in the EWS next year onwards!
  • + 3
Agreed, would hate to see him leave competitions completely
  • + 2
He signed a two year contract with Santa Cruz - I wouldn't be surprised if next year is his last. He said before he wants to try something different.

I love that Steve Peat's description just said "Legend". Couldn't agree more.

Hahaha I was laughing so much when it said that.. Steve Peat Legend

I really don't want him to retire but winning his home race and becoming world champion really would be a fantastic way to end his career!
  • + 17
He's waaay to young to retire, he's gonna still be shredding when he's steve peat's age!
  • + 4
Hopefully! This guy, Peaty and Gee are the bosses of this sport, but Minnaar and Peaty... Does anyone hate them? They are legends.

Easily one of the best mtb videos I've ever seen! Greg is a class act, and one of the all time great cyclists. Massive respect for him , especially after watching this clip. Congrats on the win today Greg!

My son had attended a DH camp Greg did at Bootleg Canyon in Nevada and he was very impressed with his riding and teaching style. He said that just riding behind Greg made him faster. At the end of that DH camp, we had dinner with Greg and I was impressed with him and found him to be an overall nice guy. Ever since then we have be fans and even though he is from another country, we yell and scream like true South Africans when he wins! Congrats Greg and hope to see you riding like a Champ for a long time.

Despite his average (by his standards) season so far, his win today proves one thing unequivocally- you just can't keep a champion down.

Wish a kiwi won, but you know you know what when I think about it and after watching this he is the king and he deserved that win! That comment at the end of this opportunity not coming around again in his life is so so true. And he took that opportunity by the scruff and said you are mine bru!!!! F*#k yeah buddy!!

Question is what happened with Gee? 7th? Something seriously wrong there! Well done Greg!
  • + 2
7th place is the opposite of something seriously wrong. It is more like a few tiny mistakes. These races are tight and you have to have a near flawless run to win.
  • + 2
Agreed. But did ya see gees run? He didn't even look like he was trying to push. That don't look right
