Ok, we dropped the ball on this one a little and missed the first few days... so it's catch-up time today. Most people know Monaco and the French Riviera for the high life and Formula one racing, but head away from the glamour of the coast and up into the mountains and you find a world of endless all-mountain riding. This week 72 riders, including four former downhill world champions, are taking part in a seven day enduro stage race on those trails. In their own words, it's the "definitive all-mountain stage race." Who are we to argue? It looks like it's been a week of epic weather and riding so far. We know where we'd rather be this week (hint: it's not here at a desk).
Day One:
Day Two:
Day Three:
Day Four:
After four days of racing it looks like Jerome Clementz is leading the pro field from Nicolas Lau and Nico Vouilloz. Sitting in fifth, just behind Mark Weir, is World Cup XC racer Raf Naef. In the amateur class, the UCI's Chris Ball is leading, chased by Bike Mag's Seb Kemp. Top World Cup snapper, Sven Martin, isn't far behind either. To put the pace of the top amateur riders into perspective, Chris Ball is ahead of World Cup downhiller Matti Lehikoinen (although Chris has done his far share of World Cup downhill races in the past, as has Sven Martin).
