I dont know if im alone in this mentality but I always hate when people (mainly pro teams) post a "helmet cam" but yet have all these weird angles that they keep switching too. For example, on a jump I wanna see the riders POV not some crappy shot pointing towards the rear tire. It frustrates me when the shot keeps switching to point at the rider etc because I wanna see the track! Is that not the point? Rant over.
to a race team, the footage of the rider on the bike is prob more important than footage of the track itself. if the idea is to use the footage to improve the time then the rider is that important thing, not the track.
I normally prefer just the one straight ahead camera shot. I do have to say though, I really like the handlebar shot as he was going through the berms. You do not realize how far these guys really lean into those berms sometimes. Also how upright they still manage to keep their heads while pinning it that fast.
I'd normally agree, and definitely think the backwheel shots were a bit pointless really but like bplatte said, I actually thought the handlebar shots on berms was pretty awesome. Any of the rougher parts didn't really work at all though, so much blur and it's just of the guys jersey...
i thought that the back wheel shots gave a better look at how far the rider really went.. maybe that's just me though. they mix up the angles to help it be more entertaning. there will be other POV's that are dead quite without the change in camera angles.
How can people talk so much while riding? if i ever tried to make a video like this i would screw up and crash! Anyway, that was a cool track and some cool riding!
actually, i find that talking or even singing something (*sheepish look*) can help me ride. Lets me react more naturally, rather than overthink or focus on negative stuff that I shouldn't ('dont hit the stump', then you hit the stump). I was quoting the double rainbow youtube video a lot when I was hitting jumps a whislter a couple seasons back. Kept the fun factor up, didn't overthink stuff, and stuck most of them If you've ridden enough, your body naturally will know what to do in a gnar rock garden, so why not start singing parts of the "Rocky" soundtrack??? $5 says you hit it cleaner
i actually like the different views. with how many straight up track vids that come out of an event, it's god to see how much punishment the bike and rider take on a world cup course with different perspectives. awesome how he says chicken every now then. now i dont feel so much like a rookie.
Loving the ability to add audio to the Go Pro footy in-camera. Adds a new dimension to riding videos. Commentary while riding is sweet, this guy is awesome! Agreed that the camera angle edits were annoying. Hopefully someone can just do smaller PIP inserts for the secondary angles and keep the main forward-facing angle dominant.
Claudio is the Rob Warner of POV track comments. Really funny guy and I enjoy the track run's he does. Great work Claudio. Can't wait to see your next one.
Forgive me if my ears are clogged, but I'm pretty sure he said it right. He IS racing the WC, pretty sure someone would've told him what those Nascar-style turns are called by now... lol
Rider: "Gotta watch this steep section!"
Me: "Really? What steep section???"
cracked me up.
Nice vid otherwise
