Vote Now: Goldman Games People's Choice Award

by Jamie Goldman
The Goldman Games is a video contest held in Bend, Oregon, and centrally located around Jamie Goldman’s Ranch. This year, riders based their videos on a central theme to give each of their videos a comedic approach. The idea comes from an athlete point of view and allows all the riders to experience the entire area where the competition is located, instead of being stuck in one spot for the whole trip. The videos provide a great way for all the riders to get creative and produce the best riding segments possible. Vote at the bottom of the page to choose the Pinkbike People's Choice Award for Best Edit.

Trail Pimpin' - Root One Productions
Team “Trail Pimpin” had the most Hollywood editing of the group. Smoke puff transporting, incredible riding, and comedic acting, The guys really nailed the theme and stuck with it for every moment of the film, the cuts and segments are entertaining time after time, and the riding is incredible.

The Hangover - Harrison and Rupert
Team “Hangover” had beautiful cinematography. You can see that the film crew and editing room put in some hard work as every shot is crisply filled with action and clarity. Their use of rider characters seemed to stay true to each individual and showed you that even the worst of hangovers can be cured with a good solid day of riding.

TRENDING - Eric Lorny and Crew (All the riders)
Team “TRENDING” was raw, Jordie threw together a music beat for their movie and they covered every trend in the mountain bike industry. Their fast paced mix of comedy and riding will keep you on your toes for every minute. You never know what’s next in this video. Your mind will be blown by Fogel’s off the wall tricks. The riding section in the end of the video drove the nail in the coffin. Team “TRENDING” took home the Rider Voted Monster Energy Best Edit.

About the Filming Process
The teams of riders were organized once all the riders arrived at the Goldman Compound. The selection process began with filmers drawing names of the riders out of a Monster hat. Everyone played a game of “white elephant”, similar to what you would play on Christmas night with presents with all your relatives. This allowed the teams to battle for riders that they wanted on their team, but still push them to get creative while riding with guys they might not normally hang out with, this gave all the videos the greatest blend possible.

After the three teams were selected, the riders and film crew had 72 hours to put together an 8-minute, themed film. Scheming began instantly as the riders flocked to the edges of the Compound so that their themes and ideas wouldn't be heard by any other team.

The teams went on their way filming for a day and a half and were summoned to meet back at the Compound for a Monster Energy Best Trick Showdown on Friday night. An hour jam was all that was needed to see some of the most tech tricks that MTB has to offer. Jordie Lunn, the winner of Best Trick, needed only one run to prove his point, stomping the cleanest cork 7 anyone had ever seen, but the jam didn’t stop there. Sam Dueck landed a tailwhip to superman seat grab indian air, and a 360 double tailwhip. Eric Johnson nearly cleaned a 900 on the quarter pipe feature. But at the end of the day, Pinkbike voters called Jordie Lunn the champion of the night.

Saturday was the last day for the teams to get everything finished for their films, the editors were locked in different rooms at the Goldman Compound and some final acting and connecting of segments was in the works. All the teams were struggling with the 72-hour deadline. It was interesting to get to watch everything come together. The themes for each video were so different and it seems like every aspect got covered.

 All of them...

All three had sick riding, but Trail Pimpin was the only one that was remotely funny... The Hangover would've been better if they woke up and either cased it hard, or landed like a 720 flipwhip.

The riding in each video was beyond reproach. But the dialogue and plots were similar to those in a porno, the reason they made fast forward buttons on VCR's all those years ago.
