Strength in Numbers is about showing how mountain bikers are all connected through their love of trails. Like Matt Hunter says in the film, "Trails are mountain biking. The winner will receive a complete Strength in Numbers Session 9.9 from Trek and Shimano.

Three Easy Steps to Win

well shit, i have no skill or a good camera to take pictures. why cant they make easier contests that EVERYONE can participate in.
  • 59 6
Me neither but man for that bike you've gotta ask for something more than a contest where you like a fan page and they choose a random winner, haha.
  • 95 2
Doesn't necessarily have to be a great photo, anything that captures the idea of the contest is good with us

yeah true but still, at least an essay or something like that would have more participants, and would be easier.
  • 17 4
maybe a "buy a copy, win this bike" type of thing would be good as long as past customers were logged
  • 103 7
@russianredneck. You're kidding right? Who writes essays unless they absolutely have to??? I'd much rather submit a photo. Thank you anthill for NOT choosing to have an essay entry
  • 29 24
i guess NOBODY saw the "OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT" part of my comment.
  • 7 3
Well I guess I might break down and make a Facebook account. No harm in taking a stab at this contest!

"why cant they make easier contests that EVERYONE can participate in", i think your forgeting pinkbike is mostly built on being a photo and video sharing website, so they would expect almost everyone to have some sort of decent camera
  • 4 1
i saw that silvia was trying to sell this beauty on their facebook a while back.. any idea how it got back to trek? same bike?
  • 11 2
yeah but im sure more than half the people on pinkbike don't have good cameras or the skill to take good pictures.

Decent photo is barely the contest. It could be a semi-decent photo, but just as along it conveys the point and is a clean picture following very simple rules of photography it'll fine and usable.

The social media/voting part is the real contest. Not trying to brag (honestly), I have access to over 3k+ people (not the most but..) via social media...so I think I'll try this contest Wink

And love the Pro series stuff, they are super solid. I have my atherton series signed by them Big Grin

The only issue with this is in my town there is only one Trail, but it is impossible to fix(has not been touched in 10 years) and is an hour to get up there, Not the Greatest roads up either, need a 4x4, I will have to think of something else. I need more mountain bikers to move here, need more help!
  • 4 1
Just an idea man, build only a small section of trail, take 2 pictures (pics within the overall picture) or of you working and show how much you are willing to do just to make a bit of trail Big Grin

The transportation, idk on that one!

Oh my.... The best mtb website on the planet that provides us all with top notch photographs and videos, countless product reviews, countless tech tips, an excellent worldwide buy and sell, in depth product testing, live worldwide event coverage, weekly prize giveaways, near instant contest results ..... For FREE... is hosting a photography contest and everybody complains about it. Seriously people, get real !!
  • 5 5
well dam, look at all your pictures, they are freakin sick, no wonder you're not worried about it. But like i said before more than half the people on pinkbike dont have access to professional gear or have the skill to take contest winning pictures.
  • 3 3
So negative. Just go out and buy a Kodak disposable camera. Snap pictures at your local trail. Go to Walmart and get digital copies of picture. Upload your favorite one. Doesn't take a genius to snap pictures!
  • 9 1
Shut up and go take some photos russianredneck! Stop being so defeatist.

And usually a photographer don't have skills to ride a bike like that... WASTE!
  • 2 0
Remember "supermarket bike" I'm sure most people on pb are more fortunate than that guy, yet he won the glory. It's not all about the "best" photo, just the most appropriate good luck everyone, can't wait to follow this contest
  • 2 0
wow that trek.... i think my eyeballs just jizzed
  • 3 1
Scatology, every local photographer i know including pro's all ride bikes often. Very common.
  • 1 0
The photo doesn't even have to be good. you just need to get shit tons of votes. You just have to campaign. this is politics son! best person usually is voted out.
  • 2 0
At least it won't be a Haiku fest.
  • 3 0
To win, you need only a shit load of "friends" on Fakebook! Nice!
  • 2 0
FAKEBOOK... thats wonderful! for the longest time ive refused to get a page on that stupid website. love the bike, but ive got about zero chances of winning, so sorry facebook, you dragging me in yet!
  • 2 0
yeah Icremin, hold out and DONT get that stupid facebook account!! its not worth it, and it should be called bitchbook.
  • 1 0
IT doesn't have to be a photo guys
  • 1 2
... and i jizzed in my pants

Why does everything have to be related to Facebook? For f*ck's sake, people...

I don't have facebook and it's a huge pain in the ass.

i have a bogus facebook account just to take the piss when im having a shit day
  • 1 1
Not sure why folks complain about having a Facebook account. Just like PinkBike, it connects you with people. And just like PinkBike, some of these people, you're not gonna like. At least with Facebook you can delete people you don't like so you don't ever have to see their comments ever again. With PinkBike, you're stuck reading my comments whether you like me or not.
  • 1 0
I guess but on pinkbike you cant hate people that much because everyone on here rides, or they're protour but thats another matter
  • 53 0
Congrats in advance to the professional bike photographer who will win this contest.

  • 19 2
What happened to the just enter your name and contact number to participate. We're all pinkbike members and bike lovers.
  • 1 0
yeah! It will be better! Not all my friends understand how to vote and it's real pain in the ass- to explain how to vote!
  • 14 1
Why do companies use facekbook with everything they do?!!
  • 6 0
because its the best way to advertise/get your name out. sadly...
  • 6 0
i always stand no chance in these contests, i'm just a international student, i ain't got a good camera or skill to make good photos, no one would help me to build any trail since none of my friends understand DH(do i have any friends?), and i don't even have a real DH bike yet. so i would go back and try to find another part-time job to save money for bike. sorry about these meaningless words.
  • 5 0
Another contest another facebook hoop... jump jump little dog, you have to be a facebook addict too.

Man since PB joined FB there is not way to participate in a contest, GET A LIFE AND STOP GOSSIPING FACEBOOK MANIACS!!!

In the other hand: that's a beauty and Anthill are awesome for giving away a bike like that.
  • 1 0
 I totally agree.

If only I could take good pictures...

Who wants to join me, I need 10 people that are very good in social media/getting votes. We'll all take a good photo and the best one will represent us, then we all work together to get the votes and win, after we split up the booty. Who's down? lmao. If you can't win by yourself atleast win something Wink
  • 6 0
Doesnt sound like the photo matters that much, but instead, who has the most friends and gets the most votes?
  • 5 0
facebook is a pile of shit, it should be on here, just makes it a popularity contest not a photography contest...
  • 6 0
Top tube design kicks ass. Very nice.
  • 5 0
I don't have a fancy camera or photo editing software. I'll just use my cell phone.
  • 5 0
Why don't you all stop tearing up about the competition and just enter. You never know you could win that awesome bike!!
  • 4 2
Maybe they should make a competition then where every one wins a 9.9, just so no body gets hurt feelings.Get over it people, this isnt grade 2. Why shouldn't someone who has invested time and money into becoming a good photographer get an advantage? It IS a contest being presented by a media company...
  • 2 1
Because being a good photographer and loving trails are not mutually exclusive.
  • 1 1
It doesn't rely on the quality of the photo and it also doesn't need to be a photograph. Waaaaaaaaaaaaas ( that uou crying like a pre school child btw )
  • 3 0
I think we should all just be thankful that the requirements weren't "Post a photo of your trail up on Instagram and hash tag Anthill in the caption"
  • 1 0
Hey Anthill, so near the top you guys said photo quality doesn't matter. I don't have that good of a camera so will it still be judged the same?? and, its our depiction of freeride, so it can be pretty much anything?
Thanks guys!!
  • 1 0
Yeah that's right - it's not necessarily about the quality of your photo. It's about creating an image (doesn't have to be a photo) that best captures why you love trails. The more creative the better.
  • 1 0
Hey people, The votes that count are the "likes" from facebook direct on the photo or only the votes taken on the competition main page, because when I share , the link don,t get people on the specific photo, just goes to the main page of the competition, it works like that???
  • 1 0
You should be able to share your individual photos.
  • 1 0
sorry, I whas not clear. The votes that count for the competition, which ones are? the votes given on the anthill page or the ones given directly on the shared photo?? thanks!!
  • 1 0
Oh wow, I bet if all of you spent more time trying to take good pictures instead of complaining about the contest you might actually come up with a good shot. "Rule #2 enter as many times as you'd like" what's the problem here?? just about everyone has a smart phone with an 8mp camera or better and most computers come with picture editing software at least to adjust color, hue, saturation, ex... buncha cryers.
  • 1 0
This contest is completely unfair... if you look are the rules, 10 people with the most votes go to a 'finals' round and the judges decide which picture out of the ten is best and that person gets the prize. So even if all 10 pictures have nothing to do with biking, one of them gets the bike. Oh ya.. you also need to pay for shipping and they dont give you anything if the bike is broken -.-
  • 2 1
Holy shit, I fell in love with that bike ._.
well...I can't even afford a good camera, or a shitty camera... or a bike to replace mine (broken)... I guess I will sit on a corner to cry and dream with that bike
  • 7 2
 DREAM BIKE
  • 2 1
Someone with a photography page on facebook will win this. Instead of making the contest about publicity, try and make it more equal for all of us please.. I want a S.I.N. 9.9 too, I just can't facebook very well.
  • 1 0
I like contests like this, it encourages you to ride with a different perspective and gives you a reason to take photos, Ewith a low-end camera. Just go out and enjoy the experience and worry less about the prize.
  • 1 0
Some people have a brain, can use a camera and have many people that will vote for them... it's their lucky day. If you don't have these then tough shit, you need to move on with your life. Go ride your bike
  • 2 0
I love you anthill! im going up to garibaldi park tomorrow after school. good luck everyone!
