Again the Andes Mountains had mountain bike specialists from all over the world dealing with extreme conditions; very loose terrain, steep descents and strong sun.
At only 22-years-old, the new rider from Santa Cruz Bicycles, Mark Scott won the second day of Andes Pacifico 2016, with a time of 32:05.2 added after four special stages that challenged the riders.
In second place in the open category, the French rider, Francois Bailly-Maitre had a time of 32:10.7.
In third place was the Chilean, Nico Prudencio, with a time of 32:29.9.
In fourth place arrived the winner of the first edition of Andes Pacifico 2014, Jerome Clementz, with a time of 32:55.4, Clementz had a flat tire in one of the stages. Following him in fifth place was Chilean, Milciades Jaque. He had a great race and has been one of the surprises this year.
In Masters, the battle is between two Chileans, Felipe Vasquez and Claus Plaut. Vasquez beat again Plaut by one minute and a half. In third place is the US master champ, Michael West who is very consistent behind the two locals.
In the women's category, Tracy Moseley keeps the lead, followed by the Chilean National Champ, Florencia Espiñeira in second, Pauline Dieffenthaler in third, Claire Bennett in fourth, and Dakar rider, Josefina Gardulski in fifth.
