Grind – Grind – Grind…the story of our lives as mountain bikers. Climbing and hammering every trail we can manage to get to. For 2006 Foes will make those grueling climbs easier, take your abuse better, and make your smile grow bigger. The ’06 season will bring some special developments to make your ride even better with the introduction of the new and improved version of the original Stable Platform Valve, Curnutt XTD 2:1. Curnutt was the first and the original Stable Platform Valve manufacturer, giving Foes the advantage over all other suspension manufacturers. All other systems use a version of the Curnutt technology, but Foes Racing has the exclusive rights to distribute the original and the finest version of Stable Platform Valve technology, which we deem Xternal Threshold Damping.
Foes Racing has been the exclusive Curnutt supplier for over four years. This allows us to bring you hand built quality, original fresh designs, 100% U.S.A. manufactured innovations with superior technology over our competitors. Foes, and its agreement with Curnutt Inc., have the ability to build suspension based on frame parameters. With this in mind, other bicycle manufacturers do the opposite, building their frames around outside suspension manufacturers. When you have the ability to build what you want, when you want, and have the best suspension on the market to work with, you get none other than Championship Mountain Bike frames. Frames and suspension that can take you to the podium – beat your buddies down the mountain – or simply help you enjoy the experience of mountain biking. With customer demand ever increasing for a bike that weighs 30 lbs, can climb with no pedal bob, and can take 6’ flat drops all day long…it’s a hard demand to meet, but in this new era of the ever changing mountain bike world – Foes is here for you!
2006 2:1 DHS Linkage Info
Foes Racing has always been a firm believer in single pivot design since the inception of what some call the first “freeride” bike, the Foes LTS with 6” travel. Back then 6” was twice the amount of travel being used and was considered not necessary. That first full suspension bike was built with a single-pivot design to prevent rear end flex, provide a solid overall feel, and give the rider full wheel travel. Today, a well designed system can work very well without all the unnecessary linkages and bearings. For ’06 Foes is offering our first ever linkage system since we began building bikes in 1993. Before you think we’re selling out; we have a very good reason for this concept - The 2006 Curnutt 2:1 XTD. The all new 2:1 DHS Mono uses a linkage to ‘Activate’ the long 5” travel Curnutt XTD Shock. This linkage combined with the 5” travel shock allows us to achieve a ‘Straight Rate’ - Which means the shock moves the same speed at the beginning and end of its travel. We didn’t design it with a rising rate due to the fact that the XTD shock is a True Position Sensitive shock along with a true Stable Platform Valve system. This CNC’d linkage also serves as supporting device to eliminate any lateral movement in the swingarm. The Foes Racing new Curnutt 2:1 Suspension is as innovative as they come and allows you, the rider to hold the future of suspension technology in your hands.
Foes Racing Curnutt 2:1 XTD Suspension SystemWhat is the Curnutt XTD 2:1 system, and why?The Curnutt XTD 2:1 system is how much the rear wheel travels in relationship to shock travel. For every 2” of travel at the rear wheel the shock travels 1”, which gives you a 2:1 ratio.
Why?There are many benefits when using a low leverage ratio. First of all you will use a lighter spring which means less stress on the shock and frame. Another advantage is in regards to shock shaft speed due to the increase in the overall travel of the shock. The shock shaft travel is increased for better tuning of the shock and the rate of the XTD cavity system has a smoother transition from open to close. The benefit of 2:1 also affects the secondary air chamber and its effectiveness; the secondary air chamber becomes more efficient because of the longer stroke of the shock, traction is greatly improved due to the ability to set the shock up with negative travel, pedal efficiency is increased and big hit compliance is significantly increased.
Foes Racing has been working on and testing this system for some time now and for 2006 it will be available to the public! Foes Racing is the leader in suspension and frame technology, still 100% hand made in the U.S.A and the exclusive distributor of Curnutt suspension.
New for 2006…..Curnutt ITD(Internal Threshold Damping)A simpler and easier to adjust user friendly version of the awesome XTD shock, the ITD is built with the same care as each Curnutt shock. The ITD is for the rider who wants to set it and forget it with air pressure and rebound control, the bottom-out feature is pre-set from the factory so you just set your air pressure based on your weight and go riding.
Available with Ti or Steel Springs the Curnutt does have a rider weight limit of around 230lb with gear, depending on model. Ask your Foes dealer which spring is correct for your weight or consult the Foes website at

-RCS Titanium springs have tested 200-300% better fatigue than the highest quality steel springs
Ask your Foes dealer to make sure you get the correct spring rate based off your weight with gear when riding!
