After a 4 week break since the last BC Enduro Series presented by Norco Bikes race in Kelowna, we are ready to get things rolling again, this time on the Sunshine Coast. We all know how much we love to ride the Coast trails and to have an excuse to get over there even though you do have to battle with the ferries! The Sunshine Coast Enduro is supported by Off the Edge Adventure Sports.

We have a fantastic course lined up, incorporating some trails that are new, some trails you wouldn't normally ride, along with some all time favourites! Did we mention the final day finishes at the Persephone's Brewing Beer Farm?

REGISTER for Sunshine Coast NOW!

Im confused. Maybe its the head injury, I don't know...

BC Enduro Series falls under Cycling BC? Suncoaster is under Cycling BC as well?

BCES says a full face is recommended. BC DH rules state that a full face helmet is required for practice and race runs

Not sure how two separate race series, run under the same organization, doing a race run down the same course can have different requirements for helmets?

I fully expect a copout response full of smaller travel bikes, lesser speeds, jumps being flagged off, racers wearing fanny packs...

Like I said...

Sunshine Coaster is a Provincial Level BC Cup DH race. DH has very strict rules that have been in place for many years. DH racing is on big bikes with a 2min race run going as fast as they can taking big lines etc. As you said.... yes Enduro racing is on smaller bikes, taking different lines, going different speeds since they are out there riding for 3-4hrs. BC Enduro Series are grassroots level events under Cycling BC - no rules incorporated or developed for enduro yet and riders can't be expected to where a full face out there riding for 3-4hrs on a super hot day. Yes they do at the Enduro World Series level but not at any other races and lets hope it stays that way. That's my thoughts and explanation anyway! Its kind of like saying 'way don't XC Racers have to where full face when they do an XC race on the North Shore'. Neds is included in xc races and Neds is also a DH race track. There are many trails like this. It just comes down to the insurance company really.

I don't get the course format? The top says 1100m climbing and 1500m descent yet all the individual stages are entirely down?

On day 2 you start and finish at 2 different locations - eg you start at a higher elevation then what you finish at. You ride a set 23km course of which is 1100m of climbing and 1500m of descending over that 23km's - but only 5 sections of course are timed throughout the 23km's and these timed sections are predominately descents. So these 5 stages all have their own individual ascent/descent stats which are outlined in the elevation profiles for each timed stage. Make sense??
