The growing freeride and dirt jump scene in Bend Oregon is highlighted in a new short web video.
Ever wondered where to travel for great public freeride and dirt jumps? How about Bend Oregon. Home of Kirt Voreis and world renowned for its 300+ miles of cross country trails. Attracting generations of cross country riders, there is now a growing demand in the freeride and dirt jump biking industry.
Due to the work of Sam Pinner, a long time member of the Central Oregon Trail Alliance, The Lair was created. After fighting for more than five years to gain the permission of the U.S. Forest Service to start building a proposed freeride area called The Lair, Sam Pinner began his work. In early October 2007, he and more than 60 other volunteers started to build the lair. Finishing in late February 2008, it has already hosted one of the stops in the Wham Bam Thank You Jam tour. Just recently, Sam has also gained the permission to build another freeride park in Bend, located at Wanoga Park.
Phil's Trail Slalom Course also featured in the movie below, was built by Jim Carne a professional downhiller several years ago. Jim Carne also built the jumps at Kline Butte which have been featured in all of Kirt Voreis's parts in the New World Disorder movies.
Be sure to check out the new video highlighting two of Bend Oregon's public freeride areas, Phil's Trail and The Lair:
Also keep an eye out for the new Full Length video by Trifx Productions and Bend Cyclery Productions. Local riders of Bend Oregon will ride many different bike areas throughout the Pacific Northwest including Whistler, Tammarck, Post Canyon, Black Rock, Mt. Hood Ski Bowl, Willamette Pass, and of course Bend Oregon. And remember, all riders, editors, and filmers are under the age of 17. Releasing in September 2008, "Expensive, But Not Really" will be filmed in full HD and available for purchase on the Central Oregon Freeriders Website cofreeriders.com/ . Is there some FR in the movie, or is it mostly DJ like this clip?
Rock on though, you all are killing it.

Yeah there is! We are trying to get all of the local spots in our video to show every biking aspect in Bend. (Excluding XC and road riding! Ha ha!)
the NW is starting to turn into a freeride and DH paradise. there are just so many places popping up everywhere along with all the already legendary places. post canyon, blackrock, syncline, bellingham....
and for the park or dj riders you got meldrum bar, the lair, the grotto and tons of super nice skateparks.
just glad i live in the NW, and only 6 hours from whistler!

Why are all of those kids wearing such tight pants. Then the little dude is wearing an XL shirt and shorts. He should trade his clothes with one of those other guys, then there would be two with proper fitting clothing. Seriously though; those jumps look awesome. I would love to ride there.
To tetonlarry:
Little One is sponsored and thats a t-shirt his sponsors gave him (I guess that when they made the t's they didn't realize that little guys would rip so hard).
And as for the tight pants I think the camera fooled you. But yes, we do not wear baggy pants because then you get caught in your chain, but they are not tight. Sorry if I sound a little rude. Just the way it is...
Thanks for the comment!
