Bike Parks BC, a marketing consortium of lift accessed bike parks (Whistler-Blackcomb, Mount Washington, Silver Star, Sun Peaks, and Tourism Fernie) is pleased to announce its sponsorship of Anthill Films’ new movie, FOLLOW ME... Made of up key members the award winning film crew The Collective, the film features some of the best mountain bikers in the world, including: Sam Hill, Gee Atherton, Brandon Semenuk, Cam McCaul, Thomas Vanderham, Matt Hunter, Ben Boyko, Kurt Sorge, Steve Smith, and Geoff Gulevich.

FOLLOW ME... will highlight many incredible riding locations around the world, including the four bike parks that make up Bike Parks BC. FOLLOW ME’s central concept is ‘no one rides alone’ - focusing on the idea that the best times riders have on their bikes is when they are out riding with friends. This theme fits perfectly with Bike Parks BC’s goal to encourage mountain bikers to get out and explore bike parks around the province and experience their amazing trails and diverse landscapes.

“We are really stoked to be working with Bike Parks of BC on this project” says Anthill’s director Darcy Wittenburg. “The film is all about riding with your friends and one of the best ways to do that is in a park. Sessioning trails, pushing each other to try something new, joking on the way back up the chair – this is what we love about riding in the park, hopefully we can share a bit of that through the film.”

Each year Bike Parks BC’s runs the Ultimate Road Trip contest which takes 2 lucky winners and their guests on a 7 day guided trip to bike parks around the province. This year’s trip runs from August 1-8 and features stops at Silver Star, Sun Peaks, and will arrive in Whistler for the start of Crankworx. With the Anthill crew filming at all of these Parks the same time as the contest winners are out touring who knows they just might cross paths!

does Tourism Fernie consult the mountain biking community as to how it markets mountain biking in Fernie ??

I don't know if they do but sure as shit Fernie Alpine Resort doesn't? I'd say they're one or two seasons from shutting down lift accessed riding all together. I know this isn't the forum but I'm so dismayed that I have to vent somewhere! Congratulation FAR, every other resort is stepping it up and expanding and you're taking ANOTHER step back and cementing your place as the worst lift access riding in western canada for the 5th year in a row which is sad because you used to be a leader! I'd rather ride Rabbit Hill!

P.S. The Ultimate Road Trip contest is FANTASTIC, who wouldn't want to win? It would also be pretty sweet to get a cameo in this new video as a bonus.

we live two hrs away from fernie...they used to be sweet. it was nice to be able to drive such a short distance to ride lift access. we stopped riding there when they started taking out features "that cause you to leave the ground". if fernie is owned by the same company you would think they would put some effort into making it more like whistler, sliver star, sunpeaks... they may not be creating enough business or revenue tho?

where is rabbit hill?
flag ridingthemoment (Jun 25, 2009 at 13:14)
Fernie is not owned by the same company, in fact all those hills listed are owned by different companies (Interwest, Resorts of the Canadian Rockies etc..) they just pool resources to advertise together as one group.

What they are doing in Fernie is similar to what they did in Lake Louise with its terrain park in the winter time, one year super park for powder mag next no features or table tops. (Fernie and the Lake are the same company RCR)

hahaha kikker is right, rabbit is amazing

I wasn't mocking Rabbit Hill at all. I think it's superb. That was a slight at FAR because if a small family owned hill with minimal elevation on a river valley can make a place as fun as they have, why can't a company that owns a 5 bowls in the Canadian Rockies? Oh wait, I know, they don't care about lift accessed riding.
