If you've ever drooled over the riding potential in Revelstoke, now might be a good time for you to come and check things out. Fight the RV's plugging highways in their Intruders and get thee hence to Revelstoke for the first annual Bike Fest. AM, XC, Freeride, 29er, 650b, Muni, purple, pink - all are welcome!
It's not the first, I was there for the Bike Fest last year and had a blast. Very low key, laid-back event, no crowds but world-class riding and very friendly locals. Probably can't make it this year but will be back some time. Photos: www.pinkbike.com/u/nielsvk/album/Revelstoke
Bikefest is in its third year, but it's been a mostly local event so far. With SingleTrack 6 kicking things off and the Mt. Revelstoke Steamer finishing things up, it should be busier this year.
There's also a big softball tournament taking place the same weekend, so it should be a fun time.
Kelowna is the best airport to fly into. Kamloops' airport is situated on the opposite side of the city which means you have to drive through traffic to get to Revy, as for Kelowna has more flight options, and you don't need to drive through the city to get here. Either option though you're looking at 2-3 hrs driving.
