@cerealkilla@burnbern@gunners1 You guys have no idea what you're talking about. The prices you see are the result of the way the bike industry distribution works. If you knew the cost that brick n mortar shops pay for items like tires, you would not be saying that the prices are jacked up. LBS's need support, but at the end of the day it's not your fault for being loyal to the dollar - we're all in the same boat. Also, next time you go to Ridley's, check their price tag for Schwalbe tires. Whether it's CC or Ridley's, their products come from the same place.
People like you are misinformed. Please don't trash a good name based on your unfounded assumptions.
@elesdee: Allot of bike stores are over priced which is why I buy my tires/derailleurs other mtn biking goods online. Also the high prices they charge makes people not want to purchase mountain biking gear in general and also makes it harder for regular people with regular salaries to enjoy the sport or get into it in general. As far as ridleys vs CC goes, I just find the service I receive from ridleys to be better. Therefore I get the best bang for my buck that way. So I do know what i'm talking about and there aren't any asumptions, just experiences and facts I've seen at both stores and online.
@elesdee: Call horsecrap on that. You can pry your lips off CC's butthole anytime. Regular price of those tires most places is $109. They jack it to $129, then act like they're giving big savings. Your reply has zero merit.
@elesdee: Not sure if you are comprehending the discussion. I am not complaining about an LBS selling tires for Schwalbe MSRP. I am complaining about them jacking the sticker price another $20 and then calling it a "sale".
@cerealkilla Thx for the advice, too bad you have no idea what "regular price" is. I say again: misinformed. @gunners1 i'm sure you're referring to that time you're POS dropper wasn't working and the boys at CC replaced cable/housing on the spot with no question and no charges only to find out that the actuation on that post was dicked due to poor design - totally their fault. @burnbern You obviously don't know how distribution works in the bike industry - shops don't jack up prices - they sell things based on their cost from their distributors. If you don't like the price, buy online. No one at the shop is making it seem like a "sale", the discounts come easy only because shops try to do their best to get close to online prices.
Stop being a*sholes. Next time you're considering buying something from a shop, ask "can you match this online price, or get close to it?" Instead of being a wise-ass-know-it-all economist calling out shops for jacking up prices.
@elesdee: Stop smoking crack. I go to bike shops every week. They ALL sell the same tires for $109, regular price. I love my LBS, and certainly would never waste a nickel at some place trying to pull a fast one like this.
If you weren't so busy smoking CC's bone, you'd realize we're not attacking LBS, just janky ones that want to get in on the whole Black Friday thing, but don't actually want to give a deal.
@elesdee: I love my local LBS and buy everything but the stuff I purchase used from them.
But if I go in there, and the tires I normally buy for $95 have a sticker on them that says "Reg. $120 on sale $95" I am going call them on it... Except my LBS wouldn't pull that crap, cause they are awesome. Also, if they did (cause they had an un-awesome moment), and I called them on it, they wouldn't call me an a*shole.
@elesdee: Yes I am refering to the time my dropper post had to be fixed but your missing a couple key points. Firstly I had gone into the 22x shop in bragg creek where it was supposedly fixed but wasn't for which I paid for. They are the same company right ?! Then after i brought the seatpost into CC it took them a good 20-25 minutes to replace a cable and after riding away with it noticed it wasn't done properly, thus i had to bring it back in a third time. As far a poor design goes, after having the cable replaced properly at ridleys nothing has gone wrong with the cable or post, and that includes racing with it in revy, kamloops and two other races where I have used the post allot and the dicked poor design seems to be holding up.
These aren't black Friday deals. These are prices that are readily available 90% of the year. Garbage. Black Friday for bike stuff on the internet isn't good, some of these online shop sell products at rock bottom prices already, I guess we are all a little spoiled with internet prices to remember it's waaaay cheaper than going to the local shop to begin with.
@nyhc00: I just ordered a TRACER 275C EXPERT, $398USD with taxes and shipping. I'm not holding my breath that they will honor the deal but you never know!
Hell yeah, my friend bought 3 bikes there today for $900 (something like $12k for 3 bikes without a discount)...I wonder if those deals are real and they were like "let's make some hype there with those prices!" I wanted to buy a Lib Tech splitboard for $300 and no way the price jumped to $999 on a checkout =(
But fcuk, that is what the REAL BLACK FRIDAY is all about! Make the buyers gone MAD!!! And not those -20% super-duper-only-today-deal.
While I got a confirmation email, when trying to check my order number on their site it does not exist. Has anyone received an order canceled email yet?
@burnbern: @snosports16: Messaged Evo on Facebook hours ago (different time zones), this was their reply:
Hey ***** -
We unfortunately had a pricing error on our site where a majority of our products were listed at $299.99. We have since fixed the error and the prices should now be correct.
- evo
So I guess people will found out soon if they honor the prices. I somehow doubt it...
@burnbern@wisey Got an email from Evo this evening describing the pricing error/glitch and subsequent order cancellation. However to close the email they stated that their goal is to deliver great products, service, prices, and information. They admitted that today they fell short and understand the disappointment of a lost deal. To back it up they provided a promo code good for $50 on my next order through Dec 10th. Pretty bang up job in my opinion. My expectation was to get a sorry, your order is canceled tough shit, to which I am blown away with their response. Kudos Evo!
@onemind123: with a limited understanding of business Law I'm going to guess this is because the business took the payment and issued a receipt.
Google "invitation to treat" . Listing a price does not force a business to sell you the item at that price. Taking payment of it does make it legally binding though. I'm not sure how this would apply to an online business in terms of what constitutes the payment being processed and the contract closed.
That being said maybe just don't be a dick by trying to take unfair advantage of an obvious and honest mistake.
Anyone here concerned of what mass consumerism means for our us and our planet?
Realise that in the 1920 to 30s Edward Bernays took the same psychoanalytical methods devised by his uncle, Sigmund Freud and used by the nazis for propaganda, and used it for marketing. Basically designing and manipulating people to buy things they don't need on impulse often with built in planned obsolescence.
Fcuk that! I ain't no mindless sheep #BuyNothingDay
how is it possible Amazon had the Tr500's lower than the prices we had them on sale for? although it was brief, they had them cheaper than our price by about $50 and I know for a fact Tranny doesn't sell to Amazon. they were listed for about 3 days but I don't see them posted now. hard to believe..
Welp as a shop owner I'll just finger bang myself until the customers come show me their fresh boxes of snarf. XT 8000 11-46 cassette today ... Looking good Shimano newest up & cummer. sram xx1 power dome load taker is the Jenna of the bunch tho
These sale prices are more realistic to that MSRP! The manufacturers are killing the sport with their ridiculous pricing. Biking is an organic lifestyle, but somewhere along the trail, lost its way and became a corporate driven monster.
Are some people confusing MSRP (manufacturers suggested retail price) and MAP (minimum advertised price)? Maybe that's way people are saying a certain company is asking more than MSRP, but really it's MAP and their just used to seeing MAP pricing from every business because of the amount of competition in this retail space.
tryed to buy a Specialized Boomslang pedal in this Dunbar On Line bike shop and was the worst nightmare. What a amateur bikeshop. First my 3 years old 100kdollars Visa and Mastercard that I've been using all over Europe and in other on line bike shops was rejected and they said in my face that my Card was fraudulent, after I did the payment with PayPal and chose a mailing. They sent email saying the mailing I chose was "finicking". So I decided that they could chose the way they gonna ship me the pedals and you know what they did??? They canceled the deal without even telling me, after 4 days I sent email asking what is happening and they said they canceled because they wanted!!! what a shity bike shop I don't recomend anyone to buy with them, people without heart and soul don't care about clients. DON'T BUY IN DUNBAR BIKE SHOP!!! They are amateur!!!
Thats too bad, i had a great experience through them. I purchased a troy lee D3 helmet online and they later emailed me to let me know that their online stock was incorrect and they didnt actually have the helmet. Let me have a carbon one instead for the same price!
Dunbar is a brick n mortar shop in Vancouver right across the street from MEC, which is Canada's biggest outdoor retailer. So they cater heavily to walk-in traffic. They sponsor and participate in local trail days and events, which you don't get from online stores. They're super busy most of the time but I've had my bike serviced there a few times and no problems. I don't know if online sales is really their thing yet, but I suppose they are growing and making it a part of their business. Definitely not a place like jenson or chain reaction, though.
@gbeaks33: Thanks we appreciate it! We are definitely not as big as CRC and Jenson and what not, but we are only making a bigger and bigger presence online. I run the customer service side of the online shop, and If I could post the emails back and forth between Mudmad and us, I would. His cards didn't pass the verification for International shipping, so I suggested paypal for him. He selected UPS shipping, and UPS' website was down, so I asked if USPS Express would be ok. He completely blew up on us after and was very rude and disrespectful in his response. I apologized for the inconvenience, but at the end of the day we have to cover ourselves. I asked him for a confirmation on the shipping method, to which I never got a reply. After a week of waiting, we cancelled his order. If there is an issue, we either solve it ,or find another way to get the customer sorted out like which often ends up a better deal like @DirtyHal experienced. You can't please everyone in the retail world, and that's just the way she goes. 98% of our experiences with customers are good and usually funny. It's awesome how many customers we have that come riding with us regularly, or just hang out with us at the shop.
@leon-forfar: you come in my face and say my credit card is fraudulent and you think what? I am gonna be suit and funny with you? you are a joke you sale products you don't have like you did with the other client here. And after all you come and say you are the victim of the broken deal??? you are a joke, go learn how to work with on line international sales before you go play with Bikers. I have the worst on line sale experience with you and that's it! say what you want I have all the emails that you say I am fraudulent just because I am from Brazil! go sale to your budies
This is the kind of attitude I got from a simple "UPS is down, do you mind if I ship USPS Express?" in our emails. I also did not say it WAS fraudulent, I said the card details did not match, and we had to err on the safe side. These aggressive responses don't make us as want to go out of our way to help you, or give you the benefit of the doubt, as they are quite common of fraudulent customers we have dealt with.
@leon-forfar: the way your bike shop do with clients like DirtyHal selling things you dont have and than fix it with another product, man for me this is fraudulant. prety normal this days on bike shops that are amateur and doesnt know how to work with online sales. I was also looking to a revew in your website a client complaining about a pair of tires he bought and had one date to arrive the tires and the tire didnt arrived as suposed to be for me that is fraudulent These agressive responses? and you are what my boss or my school teacher? after you sent me 5 emails saying you have a problem with my Visa, than another saying you have a problem with my Mastercard, than another one beacause the UPS I chose was finiking, than another when you say that everything shows for you that my card was fraudulent... So saying my card is fraudulent is the atitude I will spect from an average bike shop withou any reason or just because I am from Brazil? the good side of all for me is that you never gona see my money and you dont need that. have a good day and go learn how to deal with unhapy and unsitisfied clients
bought the pedal in this shop and no one accused me of trying to do a fraudulent deal with a fraudulent card. no one ass hole from the shop sent me emails saying the mailing sistem is finicking. and no one from the shop canceled the deal without any reason. what is the difference? one shop is racist and amateur and the other is professional.
go canuks keep thinking that you have the king in your belly. hope this shity bike shop will go to bankruptcy soon since they are selling carbon helmets with the price of normal helmet and acting like they are making a favour of selling things. keep around your bag of cocksuckers that you gona be good and quit international sales since you don't have any idea of haw to do it.
Dear Flavio,
Thank you for placing your order with Rutland Cycling.

@Pauldenney: oh look mommy he sent me a massage saying bad things about me what a bad boy he is mommy kkkkkkk oh he is a loser no he's a price.... mommy do something to him gugudada
There are much better prices at Westwood Cycle with free shipping over $100. Way better selection and its not just the old junk these guys can't sell. Not an ad, just making sure people aren't getting ripped off this Black Friday.
People like you are misinformed. Please don't trash a good name based on your unfounded assumptions.
