Kate Leeming rode for seven days, traveling nearly 400km through Jameson Land and Liverpool Land in 0 degree Celsius temperatures. She utilized a Fatbike to battle the harsh conditions along with Vee Snowshoe tires to push through soft snow covering the entirety of the terrain.
“I was impressed with most of my component selection, in particular, the wheels.” said Kate.
“The VEE Tire Company’s Snowshoe XL tires are made of a new silica compound that sheds snow, the white color reflects heat—any melting of the snow would result in it sticking to the tires, reducing the grip and increasing the weight. The combination of the tubeless tires and HED carbon BFD rims made for very light, strong wheels, an advantage in the soft conditions.” Leeming battled extremely cold and windy conditions, delaying her expedition eight days as she waited out a harsh blizzard. The storm brought in fresh snow, making the trek even more difficult due to the soft conditions.
“We are extremely proud to be helping Kate on these journeys,” says Bike Veerawat, Brand Director for VEE Tire Co.
“This is exactly what we mean when we tell our riders to ‘Take yourself further.’ And we’re excited to see how Kate does on her next big adventure in Antartica.”With over thirty years in the industry,
