BUILDER tells the story of trail building, through the eyes of 15 of the sport's best riders and most creative builders. From the first shaky pedal strokes of youth, to the game-changing moves of the sport's top pros, you'll see how mountain biking is shaped by shovels and chainsaws in an endless pursuit of the perfect ride.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the project including the riders, builders, sponsors, friends, family and of course the Pinkbike community.

I'm not joking when I say that I'm planning my day around this one. Also, just pre-ordered on itunes at £6.99 !!! Seven quid for a 51 minute movie....total bargain, get it bought folks !!!!
  • 14 2
Same here. 12 bucks, not even three coffees. Total bargain. Can't wait.

Doerfling must go through brake pads and underwear like crazy...

Looks like "unReal" Is going to have some competition. Builder is going to be tough to beat! What an insane movie.
  • 10 0
Just watched it, twas actually shit hot! Some guitars and bikes all put together really nicely without too much slo-mo! 9/10!!!
  • 2 1
13 08 DOES IT GET ANY COOLER
  • 3 0
@peanutbuter That section made me shake my head more than any. Even my missus sat and watched that bit!

Amazing film! Thank you so much for bringing this to us.
  • 4 0
So cool to have the oppo to see this for free! Thanks a lot PB and massive respect to all the riders and the production!
  • 2 0
Yeah that was one of the better movies I've ever seen. I think Kranked Progression was an incredible idea for a movie so I'm stoked to see that idea come around again and done so well. There was not one bad moment and that last seggy blew my mind. It was tight seeing Dorefling's line that made POD here a while ago and holy crap, he was going so fast. Too much goodness to point out.
  • 2 0
Can't believe the price for what has to be essential to any mtb'r - preordered.
  • 59 0
The singing eagle was a stroke of genius.
  • 3 0
 Yup, couldn't agree more!
  • 39 0
I was honestly laughing so hard when I edited that.
  • 3 0
 no doubt!
  • 2 0
@scottsecco Man, I just saw the trailer after the film and Im so stoked to get it. I saw the premiere version yesterday and I loved it. Super epic man! As a cinematographer myself, huge respect from my side for putting it up. Im definitely getting it and I loved your shots. So rad dude, definitely an inspiration Smile
  • 53 0
That was EPIC! That entire McDuff segment, Berrecloth shredding with a chainsaw strapped to his back and not putting music over Kovarik so we can hear the dirt fearing being underneath his tires. YES!
  • 13 1
Thank you PB for streaming it.
  • 13 0
Riding with a chainsaw on your back? Potentially taking "shredding" to new limits!
  • 46 7
 itunes only = fail
  • 21 5
Believe it or not there is a large audience outside of the Apple ecosystem willing to pay for this. How hard is it to offer the film on Google Play and/or Vimeo? Itunes-only is the sole reason I won't pay for this. Hell, I'd pay double just to have some options.
  • 60 2
Hey guys, you can pre-order the movie on DVD/Blu Ray now, and we're hoping to have the movie on other platforms soon. Hope you enjoy the movie!
  • 20 1
What's this "DVD" thing you speak of? Is it like a video cassette? Smile But seriously, I can't wait for this movie!
  • 24 2
 Agree, itunes can suck it.
  • 22 0
will it work on my walkman?
  • 7 0
Hey @scottsecco, you built a great film. Thanks so much man! Awesome job and great variety of riding. The chutes part near the end was absolutely the best thing I've seen in ages. I can't even remember the last chutes parts I've seen. My hats off to you.
  • 4 2
I hate apple, what a bunch of hipsters. but I freaking loved the movie, so I'm gonna download the shit out of itunes so I can buy the movie. I want to see it once and again and also want Scott Secco to make more films and giving him money is the best way to show support.
  • 5 0
@scottsecco Do you get more money if we buy the DVD over getting it on itunes? Because if so, Ima get me a DVD.
  • 7 0
@Clarkeh DVD/Blu-Ray is best for me, plus you get something cool to put on your bookshelf!
  • 4 0
Keen, DVD it is. Thank you for the best way to spend 52 minutes.
  • 3 0
Yeah would be happier with a DVD than a digital copy, and now more that it is better for you
  • 1 0
Another vote for another delivery platform. I don't have iTunes and have no intention of getting it, nor do I want any physical media, but I wish to be able to purchase this movie legitimately to support the makers. Please look in to Google Play, Vimeo, or other options.
  • 1 0
I did buy a t-shirt though Scott Smile great movie!
  • 4 0
I posted below, but for those subscribed to this thread it appears Builder is available on Google Play now!

Brian Lopes: "We could have brought the dozer and build really big jumps. But it would not fit the area... Instead we will build very fast, really really long jumps."
I like his thinking

Between goldstone flipping in his segment then lopes flipping gives me hope that someday I'll nut up and try it to dirt.

  • 20 0
It is amazing that it will be shown for free, but make sure you purchase this video, I am sure scott spent a lot of his money to make this happen, so support him to make more videos like this happen.
  • 7 0
Thanks @highseat! Filmmaking isn't cheap, but I can't think of anything I'd rather do. The support is definitely appreciated.
  • 21 0
Matt Macduff must have a wildcard for Red Bull Joyride at Crankworx Whistler !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • 6 1
I don't know about him running brakeless there though.
  • 16 0
I wish I had Buehler's perspective on "something that won't freak people out." His "session" trail would be a huge milestone in my riding. And, Kovarik. Yeah.
  • 12 1
Scott you've totally killed it with this! Absolutely awesome!... The things that fucking Goldstone kid can do... Oh my god I wish I was half as good!
  • 2 1
@Maarrk Jackson is a wizard! Future FMB Tour slayer for sure.
  • 8 0
A few hours ago, watched it with a close knit group of riders here in Santiago, Chile... Amazing video, I heard so many people say after watching it, they wanted to go ride.. (Which from my bmx/skate background is absolutely the highest compliment you can recieve.)

Nice work Scott!!
  • 23 1
Gracias por la generosa cumplido usted! He en bicicleta en La Parva y Chillán. Chile es hermoso!
  • 5 0
i should pay more attention in spanish class
  • 8 0
Awesome video and congrats to you Mr. Secco. I did, however, find the title misleading as I thought it was going to be trail building but instead it was about riding shredding the stuff they rode. As a trail builder myself I was hoping for more on the trailbuilding side e.g. before and after as well as the evolution of trails. Perhaps for your next movie. Congrats again!
  • 5 0
I agree. The movie rocked but it was light on the "building" side of things. I was expecting more about the building process. This was just more bike porn. Still cool though.
  • 6 0
Thanks for the comments, @SintraFreeride and @aevanlloyd! The build vs. bike porn focus was actually a conscious choice: I find that most pure documentaries are really only good for one or two watches before the story is memorized, whereas I'm hoping this movie will be something that people can come back to a few more times. If you're inspired to ride or build, then I'm stoked!
  • 14 3
This still.... just kidding secco I cant wait to see it!!
  • 11 0
Riding with a chainsaw, that's borderline reckless.
  • 9 0
That last segment was awesome, Macduff is mental as fuck.
  • 5 0
Small children going bigger than I would ever dream of, "urban" scenes I don't just stay awake for but actually go "what the f...." during and a mass of riding that stunned, amazed or made my balls shrivel. Final sequence with Matt Mcduff must have been cgi - I cant see some of that being possible outside a video game.

And it was free to watch. I almost want to send some of my EI cheque to someone in retrospect. Almost. Thanks Secco and PB.
  • 5 0
Thanks very much for showing this. Blew my mind. Having been in the sport since before the days of drop in, it blows my mind how many times kinrade riding has inspired me in so many films etc. yet he's still a bit.... Under the radar. Ahead of his time methinks.
Then I see lopes shred it and wonder, "is there a better all around bike rider than he is?" Cedric or the palm in their prime comes to mind, but I dunno, I dunno...
Then the doerfling section comes on and I had to stop and have a cigarette afterwards. And I have never smoked in my entire 44 year life.
As for the macduff part, I don't even understand it. Wherever he is must have run out of gravity or something.
Great film. Thanks for sharing it.
  • 6 0
I'm speechless. beautiful locations, awesome building and riding, perfect choice of music, ridiculously awesome filming. THANK YOU!
  • 7 0
when you realise that the Goldstone kids shred 10x harder than you on 10x bigger jumps than you. well fuck.
  • 5 0
Scott Secco - Thank you, another movie for my collection. Very exciting to watch the Knolly team shred hard, as everyone else who participated in the movie. Job well one guys.
  • 1 0
Thank you @MasterOfStone! That is so awesome to hear, everyone put their heart and soul into the movie and it was very cool to show everyone the film today.

Best movie in a long time. The last note in memory of JP is classy.
  • 4 0
@avsrolac I met JP while interning for Sherpas Cinema. He was an amazing human and his video segments over the years have provided so much inspiration to me and countless others. I definitely wish he'd got a chance to see Builder.
  • 2 0
Thx PB, and Thx everybody, who made this movie like magic trick, with tons and tons of sparlking in my eyes, am like a kid !! And thx to see, there is always such good people, they still like this sport for the love of mtb and not only for business , Thanks a lot again !!!
  • 2 0
@scottsecco Awesome work. I really like the way you got a bit of the builders story told but made the movie re-watchable. It can be hard to do with docu-style vids. I was afraid I would watch it and then never actually want to buy it. You guys nailed it. There are so many wow parts in this film. Doerfling's part was so sick. What Macduff did was amazing, but those chutes and the filming just blew me away. Cheers!
  • 4 0
Thanks @jeremeybyrne! I've been reading some comments about how people wish there was more footage about the actual building, but I find that most pure documentaries are really only good for one or two watches before the story is memorized, whereas I'm hoping this movie will be something that people can come back to a few more times. Doerfling, Macduff, and the rest of the riders (and builders) are animals!
  • 2 0
 Thanks for this PB.

A free preview of a great new take on an MTB movie. I was actually out building in my yard today, just by coincidence. Now for the last hour of the day I can watch better dudes than me do it.

Looks like a great vid for a great price. Too bad I can't get it from Play, 'cuz I ain't touchin' iTunes. Frown
  • 2 0
I watched it two times yesterday! First time It was choppy in a few segments. Second time no chop! Excellent video and very diverse riding skills in this one! Never even knew Brian Lopes rode like that! So many things to appreciate in this great video! Thanks PB!

So dam awesome to see a new MTB movie!!!!!! Thanx to all that brought this too us......... Each segment got better an better. liked it all but if I had to choose, I liked lopes an doerfling segments.............MTB RULES
  • 2 0
Thanks Scott, this is very inspiring, makes me wanna just go out and build more trails, not that i don´t, but just gives me more ideas and never wanna stop...Congrats, awesome movie..!!!
  • 1 0
I think that's my favourite since Life Cycles! Would've liked to have seen more of the actual building etc, but I guess then it would be a documentary - anyways those trails on show where sublime!
Also, does anyone know the credits song?
  • 2 0
Life Cycles is my favourite movie ever, so that's a huge compliment! The credits song is Feel Me Now by The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer.
  • 1 0
 Awesome, thankyou!
  • 1 0
really AWESOME pictures. steady shots where beautifuly positioned. just really good looking!
being able to watch that film for free online was a very nice move! Thank you PB!

What we both wondered about, was the missed out opportunity to piece the different segments together with some kind of story. As a viewer you feel a bit confused as you have to figure out the theme of the film by yourself. "Ok, guys riding trails that they built (?)" Maybe some kind of narrator that introduces the new location (+community?)
  • 1 0
Holy cow Scott Secco!!!! I had no idea how much of a great cinematographer you were!! That is truly inspiring for film makers, builders, and riders all around! You are extremely tallented. Hopefully I will be able to finish my own film this summer, this was super inspiring for me! Thanks Scott!!!
  • 1 0
Thanks for watching @pingryj! I had a super talented crew to help on some shoots: Connor Macleod, Rupert Walker, and Liam Mullany all contributed shots. Good luck with your project! Get out there and start filming.

Stunning, and absolutely the correct amount of slo mo, epic, wow , need to ride
  • 5 0
McDuff FTWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!! Killin' the shit with the mad creativity
  • 5 0
Someone needs to give Mcduff some money for the monster lab
  • 3 0
someone will and then minds will melt around the world - he's an eccentric evil genius. Every segment showed the passion of the builder and rider but Mcduff is on a whole other level - hell he's on a whole other planet, where physics don't affect him the way they affect us humans here on earth.
  • 1 0
i was going to goto sleep last night after a long day but was stumbling online and happened to see this on the page, holy shit i am so glad i watched this, what a great movie! Definitely one of the best mtb films i have seen in along time.
  • 1 0
When I saw that kid do a backflip. My jaw dropped. It was my personal highlight of the movie. Also, love how you could subtlety hear the riders and their bikes under all the music most times. And thank you for not going overboard with slo mo. Great movie.

this video contains a lot of nut checking,,,and other things, like RAMFB...RidingaMuthaFuxingBike..This will inspire us trailblazers to build what ever comes to mind . just build...
  • 2 0
Mind bottling. That last trick was insane. I can't even understand how that worked, some serious vision and some serious vision from Scott Secco too. Awesome vid.
  • 2 0
Great job. It really shows the hard work that goes into building these ridiculous lines. Loved the mini ripper. He made me feel old!
  • 1 0
Funny I watched the premiere before racing the Squamish Enduro and guess who is in front of me? The Goldstone kid and dad! I was star struck! Of course they remained well in front of me! Thanks again scottsecco!

Are you planning on watching it on your phone???
  • 19 0
There's this thing called Chromecast...Google it. All my phones and tablets are Android. Also, iTunes is a media library and store. Why would I purchase content in Apple's store when I have no Apple devices?
  • 20 0
I support the call for electronic distribution outside iTunes store. I have no iDevices and don't want to put iTunes on my computer just to get this (AWESOME!!) movie.
  • 8 0
+1 to kit-nz. I hope they'll put it for sale on Vimeo aswell, downloading and paying for Breathe Easy was the easiest thing ever. Can't get any easier / better than that. Hope they'll give us more options.

But back to the trailer: DAAMMNNNNN!!!!!! I haven't seen the movie yet, but I already know it will be one of my all time favourites. Such a strong trailer. Such sick names. And Adam Hauck is my fav rider and he has his own part, which I can't wait to see (big fan of his riding style)
  • 5 0
For the love of god, just take my money! But, I'm not gonna give it to you via iTunes.
  • 10 0
Hey guys, you can pre-order it on DVD/Blu Ray now, and we're hoping to have the movie on other platforms soon. Hope you enjoy the movie!
  • 7 0
Sick!! Big Grin You guys rock for actually listening to the buyers Beer
  • 1 0
Thanks for the follow up @scottsecco. What kinda of a timeline are you looking at for 'other platforms'? I'm definitely gonna buy this, and I'd prefer non-Apple digital, but if it's gonna be a while, I'll probably just do the DVD (which it sounds like may be best for you anyway).
  • 3 0
We'll have an answer for you in the next 48 hours -thanks for your patience!
  • 2 0
Hope I'm not ruining the surprise for @JulianCoffey or @scottsecco, but I just bought Builder on Google Play!

Thanks so much for listening to the feedback from the community and providing us with some more distribution options. Hopefully, it will open the doors to more sales and help support further filming efforts from the crew.
